Часы в форме черепов. 17-20 век.

Часы и украшения с напоминанием о смерти и мотивами мементо мори не были редкостью.
Часы в форме черепов делали начиная с 17-го века по 1930-е годы в Швейцарии, Франции, Германии и Англии.

Череп и часы, как символ времени часто присутствовали в сюжетах мементо мори:

В некоторых моделях череп поворачивается в верхней части, тогда как другие открываются поворотом челюсти.
Либо открывается крышка в верхней части головы.

Watches and clocks with the memento mori motifs were not uncommon, dating from the mid 17th Century to the 1930s. This early Verge silver skull pivots at the top of the cranium, whereas others pivot from the jaw. There are others created that fold open at the top of the head with enamel and diamonds, but pieces like these are extremely rare. Examples exist from Switzerland, France, Germany and England.
