"Tilt-top Tables".Старинные столики-трансформеры.
Столики-трансформеры с крышкой, поднимающейся вертикально, называются по-английски "tilt top tables". Такие столики использовались для экономии места и одновременно украшения комнат
с 1600-х годов:
Вот как они выглядели "с изнанки":
Curly cherry tilt-top table
Во многих случаях в течение 17 и 18 веков они использовались для малых обеденных столов, в качестве чайных столиков, для подсвечников и канделябров,как карточные столы и игровые столы и даже в качестве декоративных загородок перед камином.
Такие столики были и функциональными, и служили своеобразным панно- показывали красоту столешниц из редких пород дерева, цветочную или сюжетную роспись или инкрустации. Были и вышитые столешницы, даже из бисера.
Они были очень популярны в Европе и особенно в Америке.
Они были разных форм: круглые, овальные, восьмигранные, основанием часто был трипод.
