John Collier, или Tim Bobbin (1708-1786).Сатирические картинки.
Писатель, музыкант, историк и живописец, график и карикатурист. Его сатирические картинки имели огромный успех при жизни и многократно переиздавались после смерти- часто уже без имени автора.
Удаление зуба.
Именно так - по картинкам-вкладышам для часов и карикатурам на зубных врачей- я его и узнала. Потом нашла еще его картинки из известной серии "человеческие страсти"- но посмертное издание без упоминания автора. Дело в том, что у него еще был псевдоним- Tim Bobbin, на днях
zooart выложил серию
"Human Passions Delineated" целиком и прояснил вопрос с авторством, за что ему большое спасибо.

. Two men sit side by side on ladder-back chairs; one (left) leans on his stick, weeping, the other clutches a frothing tankard, his pleasure heightened by his companion's grief.

Two 'cits' have been drinking; one leans back in his chair asleep, his smoking tobacco-pipe and an overturned bottle of wine on the table beside him. The other, with his wig under his arm, leans forward shouting, to hold a glass of wine in front of his friend's face.
