Такой "хитрой" мебели с тайниками и сюрпризами было много, я уже показывала бюро, кабинеты, письменные и рабочие столики, столики для игр. Но вот такое старинное кресло я вижу впервые:

Sheraton Revival Secretaire Pembroke Table
Period of creation : 1850
An Extremely Rare Sheraton Revival Satinwood Secretaire Pembroke Table. The sliding top revealing a section containing small drawers and compartments which is raised mechanically by hidden lead weights.
This table is almost certainly by the prominent Nineteenth Century furniture makers, Wright and Mansfield, who specialised in extremely intricate workmanship as evident in this piece.

Slightly tapered legs fluted columns. Two Zargenschübe. Removable leather-covered plate. Inside pitch deeper and laterally tlw two candlesticks, and 28 game pieces.
