I know. I know. I've been neglecting this blog recently. It's not LJ (or Dreamwidth) or a sign that I'm going to leave LJ (or Dreamwidth) although, while I'm on this subject, LJ's recent tendency to suddenly log me out when I'm trying to view your locked posts and trying to force me to watch a pop-up add before allowing me to attempt to log back in ( Read more... )

I am glad you are enjoying your Whirly-pop popper. I love mine, even more with the butter-flavored coconut oil I bought to make the popcorn with. I think I need to replace the oil though, since two weeks ago it got warm enough in my house where the oil turned to liquid, and then solidified again. That can't be good.

So far I've just been using canola oil. I haven't tried any fancy oils yet, but that may just be my next step. Although the thought of solid to liquid to back again oils is not that encouraging....

I don't feel like writing anything either lately. Since I'm male, I've decided the most socially acceptable thing for me to blame (besides Mercury) is Internet porn. Internet porn is in retrograde right now. Yes.

Anyway, after that bit of TMI, I'll go on to say that I've read a greater degree of appreciation FOR Gordon Brown's comment today than against it. I wonder whether it will actually help him a bit. Of course, what do I know about British politics? It isn't covered on the porn sites. Well.... Some of the kinkier ones perhaps.

Finally, my friend has a cat that has also mastered inter-dimensional travel, so I believe you. Perhaps she and The Grey One meet up. Perhaps they're planning something.

I don't follow British politics closely enough to know whether or not this little incident will help Brown or not. Maybe? However, on a completely inappropriate if somewhat related note, I'll just add that I could see Nick Clegg turning to a career in internet porn if he loses. And possibly David Cameron (although I admit to being seduced by that lovely, lovely Oxford voice and the whole "Hi! I belong in a ducal palace" sort of thing there, which, you know.) But not Gordon Brown. (TMI? Undoubtedly.)

To make up for that, Ten Reasons Why Nick Clegg is Britain's Barack Obama.

The one thing I am most jealous of concerning the UK elections is that they only last SIX WEEKS! :)

That, too. I shudder to realize that the Florida senate (and the less exciting gubernatorial) election is going to go on and on and on for months....

....and without Nick Clegg's good looks, that whole "Hi! I could be a duke!" bit from David Cameron which is kinda hot (well, to me; maybe not to Brits) and Gordon Brown merrily offending his constituents. I want British style elections!

Cameron is regarded with a great deal of suspicion in the UK, both for class and for political reasons. A lot of people have long memories when it comes to the Tory party. Scotland and parts of the North of England pretty much loathe them. Nick Clegg has come out of the wilderness a bit, but he sort of seems like Cameron mark 2 in some respects, but without a nasty party attached. Gordon Brown's comment about the woman has been played up by the media, especially Murdoch's media, but he does not appear to have lost support because of it. I think a lot of people were either sympathetic towards him, or just didn't care. But according to the governor of the Bank of England, whoever wins this election will be unelectable for a generation owing to the cuts, etc, they'll have to bring in. So winning could be a bit of a poisoned chalice.

Yeah, if Labour loses as badly as some are predicting, they can easily turn around and say, see, you ARE worse without us! And the other two parties can say, see, you SHOULD have gone for us. Too late now!

I freely admit that I have no idea who's going to win though.

Neither do I, and for some reason it seems like it's the first election where it almost doesn't matter. If the Tories win outright, it could be the end or the beginning of the end of the union between Scotland and England. Other than that, I'm not sure what the difference would be. I think it was Cameron who made a remark about hammering Northern Ireland (in terms of public service cuts) and possibly the North. That is particularly problematic for Ulster because the Tories like Labour cannot stand there so it could cause a lot of trouble in the longer term, and that's the last thing that Ulster needs.
