Holiday notes part one: zebras

Holiday notes, part one: zebras.

1. The holidays start with the arrival of a coldecho, Disney lights, and a woeful lack of zebras.

2. Holidays continue with sleeping in, napping, French food, actual zebras, and the dancing Xmas lights at Hollywood Studios, a show many of you correctly decry as utterly tacky, but, you know, lights. Dancing. It's me. Spend time searching for hidden Mickeys.

3. Weather ends the dancing part of the light show. We decide to hunt for food. Food is found in the company of the dinosaur restaurant, which, for the record, is NOT all that wheelchair accessible, thanks muchly. (I checked, and the restaurant said that they'd added more tables to accommodate holiday traffic but were planning on making some changes based on feedback from me and others. Feedback: sometimes it helps.) Walls explode and turn red! Little toy dinosaurs are formed! Geodes are carved! None of this quite manages to cover up the overpriced food. No zebras appear.

4. I have already mentioned Avatar, but I'll just add: sure, it's cool and all to have a hero in a wheelchair, but it would be even cooler if he could have, you know, saved everybody while still in a wheelchair, instead of having to enter another body to do so.

No zebras appeared in Avatar, although they had strange horse things that were cool looking.

5. Holidays continue with a depressing day of feeling like crap and hearing that fbhjr and malterre would in fact be arriving two days late, explaining why the airline industry is not universally popular.

(Aside: much though I love Christmas (cookies!) December is sometimes a bad month for me, combining as it does a day that seems to be under a permanent curse for me (not the 25th) and end of the year contemplation which this year was not a cheery thought. I may have more on this later - well, at least the writing side.)

Holidays improve when fbhjr and malterre end up arriving only one day late, after deciding to...drive to Albany to avoid the snow. We live in a strange universe.

6. Monday saved by French food, which is not precisely the Irish food malterre wanted (ok, not at all the Irish food she wanted), but, as bonus, has amazing deserts. Decide to continue saving the day with alligators and zebras. Naturally, neither animal decides to make an appearance. Begin to realize that I am slightly overdoing things.
