I haven't talked much about The Flash here - partly because I haven't talked much about anything here, but mostly because there's just not that much to talk about: it's a fluffy popcorn show. Fun, but for the most part forgettable. But last night's episode, while one of the weakest so far, did something fairly interesting.
(
Cut for major spoilers for the show and last night's episode, and a spoiler for the first episode of this season's Arrow. )
In the hallway scene, Wells was shown not just unable to speed, but unable to move at all. It did seem to be a side effect of losing his speed, but it did leave him needing his wheelchair - and it was very much like what happens to me after I've overdone things. Which is another reason I use a wheelchair - it's a buffer for overdoing things. This seems to be a similar situation - Wells uses the chair partly because he does sometimes really need it, partly because it means he's not straining himself when not using his speed.
I still haven't seen Justified. I know, I know....But I'm glad to hear that they countered this trope too. So that's at least three good wheelchair representations - Nikita had one - spinal patient, but good - Justified, and now this.
Now if Flash could just HAVE IRIS FIGURE IT OUT we'll be good. Or at least better.
