I've been a little worried...

Poll Is age really all that important when it comes to fandom?

Why this, all of a sudden? Something a friend has been saying lately has made me think about it.

Right now, I'm eighteen years old, a happy-go-lucky kind of girl (believe it or not), and an enthusiast in both life and fandom; pretty much because, as a person aiming to work on the industry of entertainment, my life is fandom. However, it seems that as one matures, things start taking a turn for the more serious, and you start leaving things that put a smile (albeit a quick and silly one) on your face in favor of other, more depressing things. So, I've been wondering, is fandom really such a big waste of time and efforts?

Quite frankly, I think not. I believe that a pastime (because fandom is a pastime) is something meant to take your mind off your everyday worries and make you feel at ease with yourself. There should be no age for that, in my opinion; but that's just me.

What about everyone else?
