All in all, I liked this episode as a whole much more than last week’s, strangely enough. It had its weaknesses and even a boring stretch or two, but the underlying mood worked much better for me this time around, even though the story itself wasn’t too inspiring. But it was once again the interactions between our boys and what it might mean for

I'm so, so afraid of what the next two episodes will bring. I want them to focus back on Merlin and HIS story and stop him being Arthur's doormat and Arwen fangirl #1. He's got a mission, I would like to see him focus on that. I want them to focus back on Arthur and Merlin being close again, working on becoming the stuff of legends. With everything they've seemingly planned for the finale, though, it will be a tough job doing that justice. If we got a finale like "The Last Dragonlord" (still my favorite), I would be happy and could even brave the huge fallout after a reveal, though I don't expect (or want) it to be resolved by the end of 4x13. There's so much they could to with a reconciliation arc in S5!
IT'S GONNA BREAK MY HEART!!
I KNOW!!! *wibbles* I've already stocked myself up with loads of chocolate, tea, warm blankets and some of my favorite Merthur fanfics, just to counter the pain (and the worst thing is: I won't be able to watch the final ep until mid-January, because I'll be visiting family and they have no internet - the horror!). But if they pull it off just right... oh, it should be glorious! As long as the boys get their act together again and there's a reconciliation arc, I'm in. :)

I'm with you, "The Last Dragonlord" was a glorious finale. Oh, and Merlin kicking Nimueh's ass. I miss powerful!badass!Merlin, hope we get to see him again soon.
OMG, no internet until mid-January?!? That's ... horrible! But maybe the ep will be worth the wait, eh? Fingers crossed ...

Yes, the finale seems pretty stuffed, what with all the things we've seen in the trailer (invasion of Camelot, flight, Excalibur, new characters/guest stars, and Gwen should feature in there somewhere as well, etc.). I'm getting worried. That's why "The Last Dragonlord" was my favorite - they dealt sufficiently with Camelot issues, with Uther's incompetence, with the Arwen, but eventually they went back to focus on Merlin and the friendship with Arthur. I hope they don't try to reach for too much and have it all fizzle out. (and it better not turn out to be like that supposedly leaked description of the finale - that was just lame) The beginning of the season was so full of promise, if we were still at that level I'd have absolutely no doubts, but the last couple of eps have shaken my faith a bit.
