Exclusive: The X Files 2 Starts Shooting Dec. 10
After years of David Duchovny talking about the sequel, and almost 10 years after the first feature, 20th Century is finally ready to start production on The X Files 2 with the actor in place to reprise his role of Special Agent Fox Mulder. Gillian Anderson is also expected to be back on board to play Special Agent Dana Scully.
I don't know whether to be delighted or horrified - on one hand, this was one of my greatest fandom loves (along with being one of my favorite ships of all times - Mulder/Scully forever!), right there with Harry Potter. On the other hand... it's Chris Carter, and I trust that man as much as I trust Darth Goughlar. He just has a penchant of f*cking with people's heads in a not very likeable way ("lips will touch", anyone?), so I'm torn. I'm excited, but at the same time, I dread what he might come up with.
They better go out of their way to get Gillian Anderson on board, too - the X-files without Scully would probably work as well as they did without Mulder, which is, they'd be a pathetic abomination of the show's former brilliance.
BTW, last week I started to feel this urge to revisit my favorite XF fanfics and rewatch some of my favorite episodes ("Pusher"! "Paper Hearts"! "Jose Chung's From Outer Space"! "Beyond the sea"! The whole Scully abduction arc! Oh, those were the good times...). Coincidence? I think not. ;)
