Last night it was our turn to host game night (it's our turn every other week). I was thrilled to have decent enough weather to break out the grill and cook up a ton of veggies. Our group absolutely loved the fare which included charred asparagus, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, baby carrots, whole red peppers, corn on the cob, mushrooms, tempeh strips doused in BBQ sauce, veggie burgers, baked beans, and salad. For desert I passed out Rice Dream Moon Pies and Very Vanilla Silk soy milk.
I used a grill wok, probably the greatest BBQ-ing invention ever! All the veggies were charred through the holes in the wok. We used to have a gas grill but gave it up in exchange for a coal grill. The taste is much better. I only use a few coals + a ton of dry wood (we have woods behind our condo). The taste is terrific and the flames keep a long time. :o)
Later, after we played a bunch of board games, we decided to play a game of spoons to end game night on a less intellectual note. Of course, I got hurt. I couldn't believe it! Ionel and I ended up lunging for the same spoon and his fingers hit mine with such force that one of my nails got bent backward and actually tore almost completely off. I have it bandaged now and have no idea how it looks. I'm actually afraid to look. Ugh. We made a ton of jokes about it, of course. Sorry to all squeamish types reading this. :o)
All in all it was a fun night!
