Another school term winding down

Saturday I will sigh a sigh of relief as I put one more school term behind me. I have exams this week and a few assignments to turn in, then it's vacation time for two whole weeks!!! My mom is coming back from Ohio to visit for the first time since she moved there this June. It's funny... I spent my last break from school with my mother in law ( ( Read more... )

I'm happy about it now, but after the first week, I will want back in. :o)

Mom can't have pets visiting, she can only have her own pet on the lease. Besides, she's in Ohio and we're in New Hampshire, so it wouldn't work, not to mention that the little boy freaks out if we're not with him in a strange place. When we moved her to Ohio we had to leave him with her at a friend's place while we went to visit a couple of friends. We were gone one hour when we got a desperate phone call from mom that Corcodel was crying non stop and she couldn't pacify him. As soon as we got back to him he stopped crying. In his own house he's ok if left alone or in the company of another. He seems to have moderate, borderlining on severe, agoraphobia. I can't even begin to imagine how to treat this in a doggie.

As for Maine, we're heading just north of Portland, I think. Our friends made all the arrangements and I didn't bother to find out more about it aside from looking at pictures of the cabin on the Internet. Not that I don't care about the vacation, I just don't care that much about the exact location. I'm just glad we'll be enjoying the (supposedly) good weather, walks on the beach, that sort of thing. :o) It was nice to have others make the arrangements for a change.

Oops. Sorry I didn't clarify what I was saying. I'd brought up the companion idea thinking that maybe she'd like a permanent companion of her own, but didn't know if adopting a four-legged friend was permitted according to her lease or if it would be too much for her to handle on her own.

Oh, I see. I suggested this to her a while back, but she told me she would worry herself to the point of obssession over the pet. What little bit of social life my mom has would disappear instantly. She would not be able to go anywhere out of guilt for leaving her pet alone at home. She would constantly worry about the water level in his/her bowl, or whether s/he's lonely, or bored, or maybe a plate fell on his/her head... I wish I was exagerating, but... I'm not. :o)
