kirby puckett died today. i'm by no means a baseball fan, but kirby was one of the few baseball players i knew about, and he's definitely someone i remember from my childhood. the twins won both their championships when i was too young to really understand that but old enough to be aware of what was going on. i called my mom when i read about it, and i told her that i feel like i'm getting old now, because people i remember from my childhood are starting to die.
and congratulations marina, you've made the death of a great baseball player about yourself, reaching new lows in self-absorption. forget everything i just said. kirby was a great baseball player and a flawed but entertaining and interesting guy, and it really sucks that he died at 45.
