It's about 98F now, and the weather app on my shiny new iPhone promises that it'll get up to 108 in the next couple of hours. I just walked about half a block from my office to get lunch, and now I'm a baked Rusalka. Whew ( Read more... )

Currently, nothing in my vicinity appears to be on fire. With luck, it'll stay that way.

No, it's supposed to cool down around 2am today. Only 25C tomorrow, then only up to 32C on the weekend. That's normal (actually ind of below average) for January. Usually we hit the 40s in February and all the brats think they can stay home (that used to be the rule: >40 no school).

Hopefully Tasmania will have recovered heat-wise by the time you get there.

It looks like Hobart temperatures will be in the low 20s/high teens next week, so pretty good overall.

I was about to say that you might as well come live in TX but it sounds like you'll get some breaks from the heat.
