Fall TV, yay!

My TV viewing has been steadily declining over the past few years, until I'm down to only two shows I absolutely make sure not to miss every week. But hey, at least both my shows have kicked off the season in fine form!

Supernatural: I think Death is now officially my favorite recurring character on the show. I just low how... unimpressed he is with all these silly little creatures having shenanigans all around him. And the fact that he lumps God!Castiel in the "silly little creatures" category, along with Winchesters and, y'know, bugs, just makes it all the funnier. And can Julian Richings be any more awesome? *loves*

Love what they're doing with Sam and his broken wall. Love that Dean confronted him about the lying, and that Sam owned up to it and explained his reasoning. This is something I particularly like about Sera Gamble as showrunner -- she doesn't drag shit out, especially not to the point where the characters start looking stupid for not noticing something that the audience has noticed ten episodes again. Hopefully, this means we'll find out what's up with maybe-Lucifer before too long, because I want to know, dammit! That was a cool twist.

Misha Collins is going to have a lot of fun this season, isn't he? After, like, three seasons of not being allowed anything more than an occasional pained ebrow-furrow, he finally gets to really cut loose. Leviathan!Cas seems to have a thing for maniacal grins. I bet he'll do diabolical laughter, too.

I don't believe Castiel is really dead. Or at least, I'm not willing to just take Leviathan!Castiel's word for it. But if he does come back eventually, I hope he gets to be human for a while. It'll do him good.

Overall, good start, show! Keep it up!

Nikita: It's too early to say for sure, of course, but right now it looks to me as if Nikita has succesfully pulled off what Prison Break failed to pull of during its run -- reinventing its set-up to keep the story moving without losing coherence. Admittedly, it's easier for Nikita. "Nikita tries to take down Division" is more open to reinvention than "Michael tries to bust his brother out of prison." Still, I love how they started off here. Every character is in a new place that makes sense. Amanda rocks as the new head of Division. And I love the three-way conflict between Team Nikita, Division, and Alex. And damn, poor Alex. She's tough, brave and smart, but she's soooo out of her depth. I hope she and Nikita work it out, but not too soon.

In non-TV news, I've started picking up the Daredevil comic based on
muccamukk's recommendation, and so far I'm really liking it. I've avoided Daredevil in the past, because everything I'd heard about the character indicated an excess of manpain and many fridged women, but apparently Mark Waid is trying to take him away from all that, which I'm totally in favor of. Also, Waid does really good banter. I've read three out of the first four issues so far, and right now it's running just behind Iron Man 2.0 in the "Marina's favorite Marvel comic" competition.

Oh, and while I was out getting a hair cut this afternoon, I picked up Claudia Gray's latest book. This is clearly a good fannish week for me.

ETA: Also, I got my Thor Blu-Ray from Amazon, and am now going to watch ALL the extras! Whee!
