For the record, I did half of mine with poppy seeds and half with some quince-and-plum paste I bought on impulse at Bristol farms. Mmmm, hamantashen...

I sent my roomie out for some and she came back with chocolate. They were good, but they just weren't...right.

Yeah, much as I love chocolate in just about everything, hamentashen just isn't the right place for them.

Do you put chocolate in yours then? In the filling, or in the dough?

In the filling. Traditional dough is good enough for me.
