Does anyone read this anymore?

Wow, I just noticed the thingy at the top of the page where you make posts says LiveJournal is ten years old. That's so ANCIENT in internet terms. I can't remember what else was happening on internet ten years ago. That was before facebook, youtube, hulu, myspace... What did we do for fun? I can't really remember.

I'm working on my thesis this month. Hoping to have it relatively finished by the first week of June. I was shooting for earlier, but due to disorganization (i.e. me being incredibly unable to decide where to start the blasted thing), I'll have to settle for just on time. It's a lot of work. My advice: if you don't love writing, don't come to grad school. If you don't have a passion about one topic enough to write a 70-page paper on it, don't come to grad school. Even if it's free. Period.

I've just learned that my roommate Ryan, aka the only living creature in my house other than my Betta fish, is moving out soon. Janet left for Hong Kong for the summer last Tuesday. The house is very empty and quiet. On the plus side, if Ryan is gone, then I can turn off the air conditioning until July. My neighbor/sometimes best-ish friend Will is moving soon too. It's going to be a long, boring summer in Bowling Green to my best guess. :-/ I mean, with no roommates and no neighbor, who's even left for me to hang out with??? I've got... friends from work and first year (do they still count as first years if their first year is finished?) grad students from the Music department. I'm organizing Rock Band get-togethers on weekends to sort of take a break from all the writing... Last weekend's was pretty fun, five people who had never played before ever, me, and one guy who could only sing. Quite a different dynamic than playing at Michelle's last summer when we were all experts!

Had to clean out my grad student office in the College of Musical Arts this week (Thursday). I didn't realize there was so much stuff in my office until it was time to clean it out! I took a rubbermaid tub with me and filled it up... still wasn't everything. Had to borrow a big wooden cart from the band office to get everything downstairs and begged some nice percussionists (one was a former student) to help carry stuff to my car. BUT it's all home now... Just have to figure out what to do with it now! I found Christmas stuff in my closet the other day... That will be going to Erie with me whenever I get to make that trip. I've got my brother's microwave, a duvet cover for my parent's bed and an IKEA catalogue in my trunk that all need to go home too. I'm hoping to head home to Erie for a bit as soon as this thesis thing is out of the way. Sort of depends heavily on a) how much editing I have to do and b) when I'm scheduled to work.

I've put up pictures from my trip to Nashville last summer and a few other things on facebook, will share the link here in case any of my non-facebook friends still actually read this thing. Which I doubt. Strongly.
