I saw Mao episode 9 this morning.
Do I have to say again how amazing this series is?
As usual, I will begin with a summary for any newcomer or new drama fan.
Story
A police detective must stop the mysterious planner of murders of people connected to an unfortunate event he had caused in his youth. What he does not know is that this person is all the time very close to him, having assumed a fake identity and prepared for everything.
And comments for those who know they story.
Ikuta Toma is good as the detective. It's the first time I see him act and he's into the role, really. As the bad-guy-turned-good the detective's character does not impress me though. As a not forgiving person I like Naruse-san best. The way he goes from all emotional to stone-cold is fascinating. And I still can't believe how young Ohno looks at 28. Fortunately he also looks good in a suit!!! Finally, I think this series is artistically great, with beautiful photography and nice music. It really gets you in the mood. It makes a detective story sad and this is weird. I wonder how the story is going to end, because even with the knowledge that Naruse caused the murders, it was such subtle manipulations that I doubt he can be accused of anything other than sending the tarot cards. And faking his identity. He didn't practically commit or even order a murder. Am I mistaken?
