Segregation in French schools?
This got me worried today: I listened to the radio that some people in France want to segregate schools according to gender again. European Union directive no longer obliges the mixing, so they want to take advantage of that. Maybe the new law proposed will only be applied to physical education.
If they create just a few segregated schools, then that's their problem. But if the law segregates all schools, this is not only back-turning but totalitarian as well. In any case, as I have been myself in a segregated school for girls, I can assure you that it sucks. It doesn't help at all the normal socialization of children and it is dangerous for gender equality.
I would appreciate any more information on the subject. I will try to update myself if it's possible.
