Short Drama Reviews

OH YES! I AM BACK AND I AM ALIVE!!

I have been watching a lot of dramas lately again. I finished most of the series that have been pending in my pile and I updated my collection to the latest dramas that I want to watch and added some others that I meant to watched. I have watched quite a few (ok.. my collection includes 122 separate titles ) and I have watched a few in Cruchy Roll/ My soju. So I thought maybe I should put down some thoughts on the recent dramas I have seen - or at least the ones that I liked the most.

ROMES
Ohkura Tadayoshi/Yasuda Shota

Recently built on an artificial island, the (fictional) Tokyo Bay International Airport is equipped with the most advanced security system in the world, known as ROMES. To celebrate the airport's first anniversary, a gold statue called the "Goddess of Temptation" is placed on display at the airport. After an international group of thieves called Silverfox issues a challenge to the airport and begins exploiting the ROMES system, the director requests assistance from the brilliant Narishima Yuya, who knows the system the best out of anyone. Yuya's team of experts is assigned to combat this dangerous organization, which continues to escalate its activities. Meanwhile, Yuya himself has a different reason for coming to the airport

I put off watching this drama for the longest time because I thought it was boring. I mean, airport security - really?!  Plus Ohkura wasn't really top priority for me when it came to bishies. But I gave it a chance. I watched it mainly because my Girlfriends particularly apicalbeat and resha_ueda kept and talkng about it. So, I watched it and I was hooked.

I marathoned it when I was sick. I liked the flow of the story. It was exciting enough to keep my attention. The cast wasn't particularly spectacular, but it was good acting and a good combination of actors. I loved the fact that it was an OHYASS drama without much of the Shounen Ai involved.

ROMES is about a spectacular airport security system and how it protects an airport. It's so simple yet, the writers managed to prolong it and make it quite intriguing. Though of course, the ending made me go HEH?! That's it?!  But over all, I enjoyed it. I won't watch it again- but I definitely enjoyed it.

So with that I will give it a passable 6/10

TOKYO GHOST TRIP
JURI/Yagami Ren/ Yoshikazu Kotani/ Kiriyama Renn

I put a full review here at marikitpvs. But yes, this is a must see drama about Itako (Spirit Summoners), Ikemen and a very very adorable Kotani Yoshikazu, JURI Kiriyama Renn and Yagami Ren  (>.<) KYAHHHHH!!!

I swear this is one drama I will NOT get tired of watching. Because of

1. Kotani Yoshikazu and Ikemen Itakos ( need I say more? )
2. Entertaining, Exciting and Funny Plot
3. It's an effin fantasy plot set in the 21st Century. I love it.

This is definitely an 9/10 just because Konnii, Juri and Ren-chan amazes me to bits. I love the plot, the premise-- but the downside is that the effects are kinda BLAH. I guess I could forgive it. The ikemen makes up for it.

HAPPY BOYS
Seto Kouji/ Kamakari Kenta

I sped through this series while watching my grandma at the hospital one night. It was a fun little series about butlers and how they make ladies happy and in turn get their own happiness. It doesn't make sense but oh well. I just watched it mainly for setomaru and kenta. It was ok. Kinda boring but I was a bit amused with the comedy and Kenken. 5/10 It was ... in a word, fanservice.

Boys Love 2
Yoshikazu Kotani

I don't like Yaoi but I watched this. First, the guy who played the student was kind of cute in an evil way. He was perfect for the role of a devil's advocate. Konnii's acting was good here but I do prefer him in happier roles such as in Tokyo Ghost Trip or Teioh. WHat i liked about it was that it was a different kind of story than what I am used to watching. It opened my eyes to the THAT world. But of course.. hehe I won't really delve in it (JUST BECAUSE). I give this series a 6/10 because it's different and there's konnii.

sukitomo
Aiba Hiroki/Takumi Saito

Aiba and Saito play childhood friends who spend all their lives together. Now that they are in college and Saito is a boxing varsity star and Aiba (Yoshiki) is the boxing club journalist/photographer - aiba tries to hide his feelings for Saito and win the affections of the younger sister.

Ok. Honestly, I felt that the story wasnt strong enough to pull me in. I was just staring at Saitou's boxing form which was interesting. :) Aiba was kind of plain (but it was refreshing to see him in a role other that Fuji Syuusuke - but its also Fuji like with Photography) Saitou was still Oshitari like but I guess this is a better side to him.

I got bored with it. I was amused with the hints of shounen ai and the little sister annoyed me to bits. But I managed to watch the whole of it.

All in all I would give it a 6/10 because it didnt hold my attention.

Boku no Hatsukoi kimi no Ageru
(I Give my first love to you)
Inoue Mao/Okada Masaki

This movie made me cry. Serious tears. I recommend this to anyone who likes a good drama. The cast is great Okada and Mao made a great pair. She acted out the role of a devoted girlfriend amazingly and the wedding scene made me cry so much. Though the plot is kind of predictable ( I knew he was going to die) because it was the same formula as June Bride, Ninii Koto wasurenaide and 1 Liter of Tears, I like these types of drama so I totally owned up to it.

The plus factor to this drama is taht it started from when they were kids and that Maou was totally cute. Okada also left me kind of breathless with his acting and his cute face. souersierra I am NOT stealing him. I am just saying that indeed he is worthy to be your ideal guy.  (^^)v

Plus, the premise of the movie had gotten me caught. The fact that first love never dies and that love is eternal is beautiful. I love this and would watch it again anytime

I give this 9/10 Because it is a wonderful story.

Ninii no Koto Wasurenaide
(Don't Forget Niinii)
Nishikido Ryo/ Yamada Ryosuke

Ryo likes these kinds of drama. In One liter of Tears, he was the boyfriend. IN this, he dies. Ryo, oh ryo... you like sick dramas ne? Haha... ok that was lame. Kidding aside, Ninii also caught my attention, not only because RYO was there. I also loved the fact that it was another SICK drama and that he totally owned it. He had me convinced that he was dying.Aside from the fact that I killed him in my fic, I totally felt the connection between him and the sickness. It was like it was real and I cried. seriously. I watch it over and over. Definitely a 10/10 because this 24 hr drama deserves nothing less. I will also post a proper review later.

April Bride
Eita/Masami

I cried in this drama/movie seriously. Though the plot line was completely similar to I give my first love to you, this one is a little different because the girl was the one who got sick and Eita totally took care of the girl. I guess the Japanese's idea of true love is to love beyond all sickness and that there are no limits. Again, another SICK Drama. It gave me hope and totally touched my heart. This movie is a winner- not only because Eita was there- its also because this is a true human drama. another 9/10 because it totally gave me hope and it was based on a true story.

VOICE
Ikuta Toma/Eita/ Endo YUya

I watched this drama twice. One by myself the other with my sister. That is how much I loved this drama. I loved this because forensic science has always been an interest of mine ( if it's not obvious, I love Galileo, etc). Not only that, I love the cast of characters. I know I have to put a proper review of this drama simply because of the Cast: Ikuta Toma, Endo Yuya and Eita combined in a drama makes a WIN in my book.

The drama is about a group of medical forensic students trying to get the last words of the person they are performing the autopsy on. It is intriguing entertaining and touching as well. I totally loved it. This drama satisfies my thirst for science dramas and gives me my share of a good story, ikemen and excitement. I will not hesitate to watch it again.

Though of course, there are some slow moments in the drama. It managed to keep me hooked. Definitely a 9/10.

I hope you enjoyed my little review. I will review again soon. :) And yes, I am back.
