Summary: Fiero Gokudera and Hayato Gokudera spend time decorating their home. Fiero reveals something to his dad
Disclaimer/Claimer: Hayato is not mine. So is Santa. Fiero is the only one that is my original brain child.
"Daddy, higher!" Fiero Gokudera raised his arms above his head as he instructed his father to pin his stocking up on the mantle one December night. His father obliged and pinned the stocking at a higher beam and came down from where he was flying up with the Sistema CAI.
"What do you think Fiero? Good enough for Santa?" Hayato Gokudera said as his feet touched the ground and he ruffled his son's red hair.
"Yeah, I think even Santa would be impressed," Fiero smiled at him. "How did you do it, Daddy? Santa didn't have a tree to put your presents under before?"
"Well, he put it up on my stocking and if it was too big, right next to the fireplace," Hayato smiled down at his son. This was the first time that Hayato's house had any holiday decorations of any kind. He was too busy and had no use for silly holidays so he really never bothered with them. But now that he had Fiero, there was reason enough to go and buy the lights, the tree, candy canes, mistletoes and reindeer and even a giant snow man up front. His place had become a Winter Wonderland.
"Daddy, that's no fun," his son scolded. "You didn't even leave cookies and milk as payment?"
"Payment?" Hayato looked curiously at his son as they sat down on a nearby chair to watch the Christmas lights change color.
"Fran-niichan always said that Santa was a contracted Mist Illusionist from Finland," Fiero said knowingly. "So, of course, he needs a little payment after his hard work. It's really hard to do illusions on an empty stomach!"
Hayato shook his head and swore to have a word or two with the Mist illusionist.
"Well, Santa is from the North Pole, his base is all the way over there. He has subordinates too."
"Little Elves!" Fiero jumped in his three year old eyes shining in delight. "I heart that they were all really smart and funny!" He giggled in childish delight at the mention of these things. "You know what would be great, Daddy?"
"What?"
"If we could get to Santa's Workshop just to take a peek," Fiero smiled. "Angelo said it's magical and full of toys and candy! I'd love to see it. Plus, I would love to give Santa a present myself."
Hayato smiled at this child's idea. "Why would you want to do that?"
"Well, Santa always gives US presents, maybe it's time that he got one of his own," Fiero grinned. "It's not very big though but I think he'll like it."
"What did get him?" Hayato couldn't imagine what he could get Jolly Santa Claus
"Well, I didn't have money but Ipin-nee and I made him a little belt charm in the shape of a star, do you want to see it?" Fiero asked his father hopefully.
"Go get it kid! Maybe I could make it light up or something so Santa would even be more impressed," Hayato smiled and let his child toddle off to the other room.
As he watched his child run to his room and get the present, he let a small smile light up his face. He didn't know now what his life would be like if Fiero was gone. He also knew that he needed to better take care of the child and that meant finding a suitable babysitter or someone who could take care of him and Fiero while he was off on missions. The kid couldn't live on Take out forever and he knew that eventually, I-pin would get hitched and leave him to do his own baby sitting.
However, he had no time for dating. Not now when the Tenth needed him the most. He had become what the people called The most feared Right-hand man. The title itself was intimidating and proud and something he had worked for.
As for the dating department, he had no shortage of dates. Woman fall over him like bees with a honey jar. However, he could not find a woman suitable for marraige or serious dating. They were all useless, social climbing whores just like Fiero's mother. What he needed was a good wife, a great cook like Haru-san and Kyoko-san, a sweet one like I-pin and Nagi-chan and stern enough like Hana-chan. Sometimes, he wished he could buy a customized wife from the store or have Spanner build him one. But he also knew that the love and care of humans were different.
"Daddy!" Fiero called him as he came running towards him carrying a tiny star chram that he had labored over. "Can you really make this light up? I think Santa would love it, if it lit up."
"Sure," Hyayato nodded and turned the lights on and took out his tool kit. "Would you get me that box of tiny bulbs over there?" He asked his son, pointing to the supplies shelf that was always kept nice and tidy for any Sistema CAI repairs or upgrades he needed done.
The child obliged and watched his father work on the tiny star asking here and there what one thing does and what one thing was called. Hayato obliged and answered each question carefully as he craftily designed a bulb that lit up whenever it was near any kind of flame source. Fiero was sure that Santa would love it and hugged his father.
After talking about it for a while, Hayato smiled down at his son and looked at his face. This child should not grow up like him. The rotten childhood he had, the one where he never felt the love of his mother and father was one that this child should not experience. This child should only experience love from both a mom and a dad.
"Fiero," he said slowly and thoughtfully as the child looked up to him. "What did you write in your letter to Santa?"
Fiero beamed. "Secret. But its something I wanted for a long time."
He nodded. "Alright, I'm sure that since you haven't burned anything down lately that he's going to get it for you."
"Un!" Fiero beamed as he yawned. "Daddy, I think Fiero will go to sleep now." He said as he led his father to his room.
Hayato tucked him into bed and smiled as he found Santa's letter on the child's bedside. Once the child was asleep he picked it up and read it. It said:
Dear Santa,
My name is Fiero Gokudera and I would like a box animal kitty like my daddy does so I can have it play with big Uri. I also know that my dad has been a good boy this year and for him, I know it might be impossible, but I would likefor him to find someone to take care of him because Daddy takes care of Fiero very well. Is that alright Santa? Also, I have attached here a small present for you. Thank you for being such a good Mafia man santa!
Merry Christmas!
Love,
Fiero
Hayato Gokudera smiled and put down the letter. Maybe it was time to really start looking for a wife.
