Omnivore proof
Red foxes are true omnivores. Who apparently enjoy gobs as much as the people in our house! Gobs, for the uninitiated, are described quite perfectly by Tom here.
It was the infamous "Goblet of Fire" that I put out in the back yard tonight. When I went to look about an hour later, there was a perfect set of fox tracks in the snow right up the sliding glass door. And no gob.
It's one of my personal beliefs that seeing our fox is a good omen, and I need a good omen right about now. It was a really hard weekend. My grandma passed away. It's been incredibly difficult to come to grips with, despite it being expected. But worse than that is seeing my grandfather. He has dementia, and from hour to hour forgets that she's died. It rips my heart out every time he has to be told why she's not in the bedroom, why all these people keep coming over to the house.
