Thoughts for further exploration, where I can find 'em later...

Ran out late to Menards last night for a gallon of paint. There was the barest nail-paring crescent moon hanging low in the western sky. Looked at it and thought, how could anyone see a moon like that and _not_ know that it was round?

Got me to pondering the development of perspective in visual representation, and whether what we consider to be "realistic" depiction of perspective came into common use at/around the same time as the beginnings of modern astronomy. Makes sense, no? Ways of seeing, ways of thinking... Dunno if I'm right about the timing but it's an intriguing thought. To me.
