The current issue of V magazine, one of the biggest in the fashion industry, has a special feature on real women. Women with bellies and thighs and butts. Beautiful, sexy women. (Okay, women with great hair and professional makeup--but I'm willing to give them that.) Women who don't look like they belong in ads for Feed the Children. Women who apparently live in the same universe as you and me. Real women.

Part of me, of course, is fairly peeved that this is still worthy of special notice, instead of being a part of everyday reality in the media.

But part of me is thrilled to see women with honest bodies being featured, instead of just stick figures who could only appeal to pedophiles.

I plan to send the magazine a message in the only way they'll truly pay attention: I'm going to buy this issue.
