East Attic: Friday afternoon

Dec 16, 2005 11:44

Rogue is sitting in her room, packing. She doesn't, alas, have cookies, nor is she going to draw you a pretty picture. But if you want to come visit her, she'll stop packing for sure.

[[Will be SP'ed pretty much all weekend, because I'll be off and on studying.]]

John stops by and knocks on the doorjamb.
"Hey. How's things? Thanks for leaving before I had that whooooole Rogue!Sex subplot played out. :P Y'know, you're welcome to stay. And if you are intent on going, I may have to come visit. After all," he gestures to his new wardrobe, "I may need some new clothes."

There was sex planned and you didn't tell me! Noooo!!

Rogue turns around. "Hey John. I really wish I could, but..." She shakes her head.

"You should definitely come visit. We're not too far from NYC; there's lots of shopping options."

Well, yeah! Hence the query about the pills! And why else would a dude ask a chick to go clothes shopping? haha BUT THERE'S STILL TIIIIIME!

"When are you leaving?" John asked, sitting on the corner of her bed. "It just seems sudden, y'know? What's this place got that I we don't got?"

"I'm leaving sometime next week, but it takes me /forever/ to pack, you know?" Rogue shrugs. "I wasn't expecting it either. But...there are people at home that need me. The kids...they relate to me. You know, the whole kicked out/runaway thing. It's harder for them to relate to someone like Bobby who was sent to a "prep" school." She smiles at John. "I'm definitely going to miss you it here."

"You? Kicked out? Runaway? Yeah, I can see how other mutants troubled kids could relate. As long as ya don't get all 'when I was yer age...' stories, y'know?" He laughed.

"And if you're not leaving until next week, then, shoot. You've got some time here, still. We'll hold off on playing the funeral dirges until you actually leave. You staying for the Solstice Bonfire?"

"Yeah, I try to stay away from those. And the 'oh my god, my family is so much worse than yours!'" Rogue laughs.

"Er...I haven't been so much going to classes lately," she says sheepishly. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Yeah, cuz, I would win the 'worst family' in a lot of cases. Not many kids have been threatened to be tied to a block of C4 if they don't clean their plate."

"Well, I saw a flyer for it. Some bonfire-y get together this Wednesday, I think. You interested?"

"Well, I can't say I've heard that one before, and I thought I'd heard 'em all."

Rogue nods, "I love to go, if I'm done packing aka if my mun doesn't have to work because oh wow so poor"

"Yeah. My mom's method of child rearing was very nontraditional. On the other hand, I could wax eloquent about the respective strengths and weaknesses of most modern firepower. Including the lively AK-47 versus the M16, ultrasophisticated impractical weaponry vs primitive weaponry, and the points of rock over scissors and paper," he smiled.

"And yeah, if you're still here and all, you should go. See everyone one last time, or something. Y'know," he said, sitting upright on the bed, "we should organize a dance or something. Yule Ball. Sorta as a going away, end-of-semester deal. You game?"

"Sounds like it. From what I saw of her, she's um, interesting. Yeah, that's a good, neutral word," she adds smiling.

"I definitely want to. Seems like it'd be fun." Rogue grins. "Yeah, a dance would be awesome! I'd be game, definitely."

"It's always wise to be neutral with my mom. Like, Switzerland neutral. Like, you should be there instead of here neutral. But hey. She's the only family that I've got, y'know? So... yeah."

"Hrm. I wonder who I gotta talk to about organizin' somethin' like this?"

"Well, if you wanna have it in the gym, I'd say the principal. But he's scary. So, um, the hotel? I'm not sure who's in charge over there, but maybe they're less scary than Bristow." She shrugs. "But I don't know, really. I'll help, as much as I can, with packing and stuff and with the working seven shifts over the next five days."

"Right. The hotel. Yeah, that might be a better idea. And I don't know why everyone insists that Bristow is so scary, y'know? I just don't see it."

He wrapped his arms around his legs.
"And I 'preciate you helpin' out. I know how it is to leave a place once you've grown to like it. And the people"

dude. yeah. Don't kill yerself for Fandom. sheesh

"Well," she says, sounding like she's hedging around something, "I would guess that growing up in the, uh, sort of environment you did, Bristow wouldn't be as scary." Nice and diplomatic, right?

Rogue reached out for his hand. "Yeah. I know the feeling too. It sucks. But I can still, like, visit and stuff if the admins let me and all. And call and write."

"Well... I'd like to say I'll visit but I don't know what the future holds and if hte admins will allow furloughs. But I'd like to."

He writes down a number and gives it to her. "Here. I call this number at least once a week. Voicemail. I don't have a cell or pager, so that's the easiest way to get ahold of me. Or, y'know, e-mail. Smoke signals. Whatever, y'know?" he smiled.

Rogue takes the paper and slides it in her pocket. She searches for a pen and paper, and scribbles her email on it. "I don't have a cell, and the mansion phone--well, let's just say you never know who'll answer it. I'll have a private line, but I don't know the number right now. So, you know, email me." She bites her bottom lip, looking nervous.
