OOC: So here's the thing about Kitty.

Apparently, I am the only player not having a good time with the Kitty plot. Rogue was supposed to be happy-giddy after parent's weekend and Logan's visit, and now she's gone positively emo. I'm sorry, but I don't like her emo. There's a reason I stopped writing angsty X-Men fanfic. I'm not mad at the players involved, please don't think I am ( Read more... )

You are not the only one not having fun with it. I'm not either as it seriously impacts two of my characters (Phoebe and Illyana).

I've had to stop and seriously wrack my brain for ways on how my characters would either deal with or avoid the knowledge of this.

I would also add my request to yours for the future.

Replying to Phoebe so that you both get the notification:

We never, ever intended to mess characters up, outside of our little group. Which was short-sighted on our part. At the very least, Phoebe, Illyana and Rogue should have been notified as her roommates. And as I think all of us have said, we never intended for this to be mean. We were shortsighted and naive, but not malicious.

Again, if there's anything I can do to lessen the emo for any of you, let me know.

Hindsight is 20/20. Such is life. And I know you didn't intend to screw with anybody else's plot, but really, a student murdered? That's obviously going to throw a wrench in a LOT of stuff.

I feel like a broken record, so I'm just going to stop. I can't think of anything IG that will just make this go away for Rogue, so I'm temporarily taking her out. No hard feelings, bygones, etc., but just think a little harder next time.

The funny thing is we planned this out to the N-thousandth level and agonized overe details and wrote and rewrote and ... suffice it to say, we've been working on it for a long time.

We just forgot there were, you know, 75 other people in the game who might care about Kitty. Which we should not have -- as Rory said, it was shortsighted and naive, but not malicious. We were seeing it as being more an extended and improved version of the missing townies plot that got started and dropped early in the year than anything else.

Anyhow ... apologies, and I'm sorry this is making the game less fun for you for now.

Here's the thing, missing is one thing. You could always end with "Her parents wanted her at home" "She ran away" "She decided to go to Vegas to be a showgirl." Murder is something else entirely.

Anyway, I feel like I'm beating a dead horse. You guys made an honest mistake, apologized, apology accepted, bygones, and we move on.

I understand where you're coming from, and thank you for the bygones.

I have no plans to kill anyone else, if that helps.

The point of the plot was not to get rid of Kitty Pryde. The point was to let an evil character do an evil act and suffer the consequences. Not trying to justify our lack of warning here, just explaining why it was murder.

And I'm just explaining why it's affecting us all so much.

Do you want have Pheobe come talk to Rogue later this afternoon? Before she leaves? 'Cause I'd be up for that.
