Pirates & Princesses

I love the pirate theme and I wanted to put that into a big chunk of this story.  Enjoy

Catherine Ann took in all the festivities of her parent's ship, the Blue Breeze: The ladies in their grand gowns, the men in their suits, the food, and the music. It was all for her. Her parents had decided that it was about time that she found a husband to take care of her. Catherine wasn't excited about it: Sure, the riches were good but the prospect of having to constantly have children was not a happy one. She loved  children. She ADORED children. But she could only handle so many before she lost her patience.

Her mother sat beside her. "Catherine you don't seem happy. What's wrong?" She asked. "Mother, why am I doing this again?" Catherine asked. "Catherine do we have to discuss this again?" She asked. "Yes! The idea of pushing out child after child is not a happy one. I'll be stretched out by the time I turn  30." Catherine said. "I know it's hard. But your father and I want the very best for you. You will have strong boys-" Catherine Interrupted her. "And what if I don't have boys? What if I have girls?" She know of how girls were often abandoned by parents and she didn't want that for any girls she could or would have.

Her mother opened her mouth to say something but a horn sounded throughout the ship. "Pirates!" A wiser person would have run for safety. But Catherine was not very wise and she ran out onto the deck to see what was going on. The crew was scrambling to defend the ship. It was an ominous black ship. Large spikes, made of hard steel, stood at its sides, so as to slice up any ship unlucky enough to get too close. And the ship was almost upon them all! "How did they get so close without being noticed?!" Catherine thought.

With no warning what so ever, the black ship rammed into them, causing the ship to jolt and tearing into the hull, badly damaging it. There was no signs of damage to the black ship.  The pirates wasted no time in swarming the ship, raiding valueable possessions, and killing anyone who stood in their way.

Catherine ran back into the dinning hall, only to find that it too was overrun by pirates. A man, who Catherine could only guess was the captain of the black ship, held her mother hostage. His eyes were ice cold, void of any emotion. "You're coming with me!" His voice was cold and hard.

But Catherine couldn't allow that to happen. "Wait!" He fixed his cold eyes on her. He was a pirate and she knew that the chances of reaching out to him were slim. But she had to try. "Take me." She said. "You?" For a brief moment, he seemed caught off guard but it was gone as quickly as it had come. "No, Catherine! You have no idea what you're doing!" But Catherine ignored her mother's protests. "If I did, would you let her go?" She gazed at him hopefully.

"Yes. But as long as you're under my rule, you will never leave the ship." He released her mother. Catherine hesitated. She was afraid to trust him. Pirates were cold, cunning, tough, and ruthless. They served no one. But she didn't want her mother to be taken away. Catherine took a deep breath. "You have my word." With that, he grabbed her by her arm and lead her onto the black ship. "Lets set sail, men!" The pirates headed onto the ship with them. As they sailed away, Catherine couldn't help but wonder what she had gotten herself into.
