An Update on my BJD Family
Hi there guys! What's up? I hope you all are doing fine.
I've been busy lately with all the law school application and graduation requirements, and school work isn't helping at all.
I'm just looking forward to the hope of better days, I know it won't be long. Anyway...
Pain is temporary, glory is forever.
I'm just glad that all of my dolls are finally here with me. They and Norman Reedus make all the negative vibes disappear. Like what I've said, it is only now that they became reunited and complete once again. By that, I'll be going to give you guys a short update or a brief history of what had happened in these past few months...
Sometime in August, I asked a good friend of mine, Ricci (dheity_rigel), to help me ship out two of my dolls, Ashe and Althia, to Texas, USA for a face-up. This is when we had a sleep-over at her house with my forever-partner-in-crime and co-Daryl Dixon fanatic Arvie (4evrnblujeans). (Pictures of the awesome slumber party here)
The face-up artist I commissioned was the lovely Isabella (belladoll on DOA), she's a starting face-up artist yet undeniably talented. She's using air-brush for her face-up, by the way. She was truly a heaven sent in those times that I'm trying to reignite my love for my dear Ashe and Althia. She never failed to amaze me, although there are some problems encountered along the way which are partially my fault. I'd still consider commissioning her again. :)
They came on November 11, 2011, a week before the ManikaManila's Halloween Meet 2012, but unfortunately I wasn't able to make a costume for them, so boo for me. They where already in the meet before I even came in (as usual, I'm late...). Thanks for bringing them Ricci! So this is how they look now...
I got them some new clothes. I bought Ashe's shirt from a local souvenir shop, if my memory serves me right, I think it's from Kultura (Yay for buying Philippine-made products!). While Althia's very pretty pink dress was commissioned by the very talented and awesome Nanz (sakura_panic).I also changed their eyes, thank you again Ricci for hosting the G.O.
As I have mentioned before regarding the problems I encountered with the face-up artist, one of it was the wigs I sent to her got deformed, I tried to save them but the base are now badly-shaped. Maybe it only means that I have to change their wigs, looks like they have also out-grown them. Leekeworld G.O. anyone? :3
Moving on, Hyuna and Hyesu, on the other hand attended the Halloween Meet-up in costumes. I only planned to make a costume for Hyuna (She came as Little Red Riding Hood, that I hope I gave justice to /sweatdrops) only since bringing all of them in costumes was never an option because of school loads, but I couldn't just leave most of them so Hyesu kinda tagged along.
I've chatted with Arvie that her BJD crew will be coming as Alice in Wonderland Characters. So I decided that if he's coming, he might as well join with that theme. And alas! What is the easiest costume among the rest of the topsy-turvy AWC characters? Yeah, you guess that right. He came as a card soldier, specifically a 2 of a clover. LOL. So here they are now...

This is where the sad part comes in, during one of the meet-ups I had with Arvie, Kanis (dollground), Jan (yaminotenshi11). I went home by riding my first ever MRT ride only to have my body and soul crushed. (I rode the all-female cart, by the way *curses*). It was already 6-7 pm, it was a rush-hour, I already expected the heavy flow of people but I didn't expect it to be THAT chaotic, barbaric, dysfunctional (and many more negative adjectives I could think of), a KILL-FOR-A-RIDE-PUSH-IT-BITCH phenomenon.
To cut it short, I went home and was mortified upon seeing on my dolls face, it was Cuddles' face, with a chipped face-up. I wasn't able to take a picture of it anymore because my heart won't contain the sadness I felt that night. But to give you an idea, it was like a big slash on her right cheek. I guess it was my fault after all, entering to a battlefield without totally securing my dolls face-mask because I was in a hurry. But the damage has been done, I only feel extremely remorseful by now.
I tried to save it, but my human capacity couldn't make the MSC to even out on her face. It was like seeing your doll being sick and you couldn't do anything. I cried. It was hopeless.
The other day I find comfort from Arvie and asked her to at least give her a more decent face-up compared to the one I did upon having the strength to wipe her face-up. I know that from the surface of the human sense, crying over a doll's make-up is lunacy but the way her face-up was so perfect that I got to love her more than ever. And it was not just a face-up, it was an APOTU face-up, made by a person born to become an epic. I'm so sorry Anj (battiegotriddim). It had been my plan to keep her face-up that way for like... forever, but now it's gone. I hope you would still welcome her if I decided to let you paint her again... *sobs*
Still I have to move on. On Wednesday, I'll be meeting with Arvie, Jan and Kanis again to hand over Cuddles (and I think Hyesu too) for face-up. I hope everything would nothing but perfect from this day on wards...
