Nice. I love finding real-life concepts that suit our favorite couple. Thanks for sharing that!

I really do like this ficlet and seeing an old Harry/Hermione is always sweet.

So, she disobeyed Dumbledore's ridiculous order to leave Harry alone and called him

YES!!!

I've often wished that Hermione did exactly that. She'd be very concerned about him after Sirius's death, and they're both muggle-raised, it's bloomin' obvious!

Being Muggle-born, she was able to speak normally on the phone and Petunia begrudgingly allowed Harry to speak with her.

I've always liked the notion that Harry and Hermione connected in the muggle world, outside Hogwarts. Away from the death eaters. Away from the pesky wizards idolisation of the Boy Who Lived.

Away from those Weasleys. :-)

Me too! I've used it as a plot-point before, but it just makes sense to me. Harry and Hermione should definitely have connected about their Muggle upbringing. No Weasleys allowed!

(I think you've read my PK story along those lines, Just Called to Say...)

*You* are the author of that story??!!???

*has a look*

Well, there you go ... Marie Granger. Funny how I'd forgotten your portkey name. I guess I'm just dumb.

I was a major fanboy of that story!! I remember raving about it in the early chapters, it was lovely. You exploited the muggle connection between Harry and Hermione perfectly.
