So, fuck King County Metro.  In the ass.  Here's why:

I left my house this morning at 8:40 am, about 15 minutes too late to catch the 8:30 (8:40-8:30=10 minutes+5 minutes walking time).  I decided that instead of waiting 15 minutes at my bus stop for the next bus, I would keep walking 'til I got to the 30th Ave S & S Jackson St stop and wait there so that at least I can warm up my body.  I get to 30th & Jackson and a few other people are there waiting as well, which I think is promising.  And so I begin my wait.  And I wait.  For 25 minutes I wait.  Slowly, people start to wander away from the bus stop and as my toes are in immense pain from the cold at this point I decide it's time I start walking as well.
Now, do I walk home?  Or toward the office?  I figured that if I walked home I would end up spending most of the day wondering what to do with myself and end up taking a long walk anyways, so I start walking down Jackson towards downtown, hoping the 14 that passed us going the other way about 15 minutes ago will come back our way eventually.  So, I walk.  And walk.  And walk.  Until I get to about 15th and Jackson, where I see a 14 coming up behind me.  The next bus stop is about a block away, on 14th and Jackson, so I make a run for it and get there just in time.  Except that the bus doesn't stop.  I become annoyed but I figure that the bus was probably full.
I keep walking and the bus is moving slowly and traffic lights keep it from making too much progress, so we both reach the 12th & Jackson bus stop at approximately the same time, and this time the bus DOES stop.  No one gets off, but the bus driver lets people on.  Now, I'm upset.  Fuck you, bus driver.  Why didn't you stop one stop ago and let me on?  Well, there are a bunch of people who've been waiting at 12th much longer than I have so they all get on but I just give up on this bus because I really don't like this bus driver anyways.
So, I keep walking.  And, honestly, I start to enjoy my walk.  I generally enjoy walking, and I'm walking through the International District so there's plenty to look at.  At about 6th and Jackson, a 36 (which I could have taken to downtown) passes me and maybe I could make it if I run but I just don't feel like running at this point.  So I keep walking.  I get a little bit turned around at 3rd and Jackson because I had decided to take one of the bus tunnel buses downtown, but as I've only used the bus tunnel with other people before I had forgotten where exactly it was.  But, I found it and got myself on a bus and then got off the bus.
Let me explain to you now how much I love taking the bus tunnel to walk to and from places downtown.  See, I hate walking downtown.  It's crowded.   It's full of tourists who don't know where they're going and who are taking up entire sections of the sidewalk.  There are lots of traffic lights that take a really, really long time to change.  It just ends up taking far too long to get somewhere, really.  The bus tunnel solves this problem.  Tourists want to be able to see the city, so they don't use the bus tunnel because it's not that exciting.  And no traffic lights!
And the biggest reason is that to get to and from my office via the bus tunnel, you get to walk through the Nordstrom Men's Fashion area.  It's how I keep abreast of the latest men's fashion trends.  Like, color is totally in right now.  And I love the ties:  paisley, plaid, floral, bright, green, blue, purple.  Men have a wonderful selection of ties to choose from nowadays.  And they have a new shoe out that is super colorful and that I would seriously consider purchasing for myself.
So now I'm off the bus and walking through Nordstroms and decidedly content with my getting-to-work adventure.
But, still.  Fuck King County Metro.  I enjoyed my walk, but they are ill-prepared for things like snow, there's an immense lack of communication with customers, and often you find that bus drivers just do not care.
Oh, except for that one really cute one.  With the dreads.  Who smiled at me while I was waiting for the 14.  I think he cares.  Cutie.
