Dory the Cow Cat

Thank you to all who helped spread the word about Dory!  She is happy and swell in her new home thanks to all your generous word-of-mouth praise.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year INDEED!

Hey everyone,

On Christmas Day, I was sent a little surprise as I was leaving my Mom's house in North Philly. A little cow cat came running over to John and I, super excited and meowing excitedly for some affection. Obviously, I obliged quickly, impressed by how attention starved this little creature seemed to be. When I bent down to scratch behind her ears, she practically jumped into my arms in an effort to get closer to me. She couldn't stop purring and rubbing her face against my hand, leg, anything within reach.

So while I was petting the heck out of her, I did a quick once over and saw she was dirty, had a runny nose, her nails hadn't been clipped - probably ever - and her eyes were super watery. So I looked at John, and he immediately knew what I wanted to do. So we loaded her into the car and off we went to the PAWS shelter (which was open Christmas Day!).

The whole way to the shelter, Dory sat like a little human in my lap and purred the whole way, super interested in what was going on outside, but politely sitting with me. She didn't scratch me at all, no biting, nothing. She was a perfect lady the whole time.

So I drop her off with Margaret who assures me she'll get her spayed, make sure she's got her shots and complete her tests in time for me to pick her up the following day. Everything goes smoothly, and I pick her up the next afternoon. She was SO excited to see John and I that she kept trying to smash her head against the case while purring so we'd pet her. It was adorable!

When I took her home, I gave her a flea dip and bath, dried her off and fed her. She was so happy and content that she fell asleep several times while I was cleaning her off. Soon, however, she was super playful and kept licking my hand as she grabbed and mock bit me. It was ADORABLE! She also took to rolling on her back so I could rub her fluffy belly! She is without a doubt the most friendly and lovable cat I've EVER seen (and I'm including my two in the mix!).

As a result, I'm on the prowl for the perfect home for Dory (named such because her fun and super sweet personality reminded me of Dory from Finding Nemo - Just keep Petting, Just keep Petting!). I'd love to find her a home in time for New Year's. She's super loving but NOT super needy. She's fine on her own and gets along fine with other cats. I don't know how she is around dogs as I haven't seen her around dogs (though she wasn't nervous around my German Shep and Pommeranian at my Mom's house).

If you or anyone you know is interested, let me know. She's about a year and a half old (same age as Piper and Lucy - my two tabbies). I'm adopting her out (hopefully for the New Year!) and she comes with her own litter box, a bag of food, her food bowls, a few of her favorite toys, etc. Plus, she's had all her shots, is spayed and negative for diseases. :) All in all, a perfect cow kitty!  I am NOT charging a fee for this little angel.

UPDATE:  I've taken to sleeping with Dory each night, and she literally sleeps like a Teddy Bear.  I'll hug her close, and she'll snuggle against my face or shoulers... she is the sweetest cat ever!!!

Here are a few pictures of this adorable one!
