Prom Night

Apr 16, 2007 19:49

I love Frank... he's such a good sport about everything.  You see, Tuesday night he told me he was flying solo to the prom he had worked so hard to put together for his kids at Holy Ghost.  So, being the extremely selfless person I am (read: whorishly selfish biotch), I immediately threw myself at his SN's AIM box- "Pick me!  Pick me!  I'll go!"  Ever the gentleman, he said he'd think about it (jerk).

Wednesday morning, I get a text saying that he'd take me along.  YAY!  I practically bounced around the center (I was at work at the time).  Then I realized he wasn't kidding about his prom being that weekend.  Soooo, good thing I still fit into my own senior prom dress, 'cause that's exactly what I used.

Moving on... I was really excited to go for a few reasons:

1.  I got to see Frank!!!  He and I talk every night (or just about) yet we go months and months between actually seeing eachother.
2.  I got to go to a Senior Prom... again!
3.  I got to get dressed up in my prom dress... again!
4.  I got to see Frank!!!
5.  I got to tell everyone that I was going to prom and giggle to myself as they sat, puzzled, for a second, and then asked, "But why???"
6.  I got to meet some of Frank's faculty friends.
7.  I got to see Frank!!!
8.  I got to meet some of Frank's awesome students.
9.  I got to go to the prom as an onlooker and see these kids having the time of their lives - no cares in the world, nothing but awesome things to look forward to.
10.  I GOT TO SEE FRANK!!!  :)  {{{BIG FAT HUGS}}}

Seriously, folks, I can't tell you how excited I was to see him.  And he looked so handsome in his brand new suit!  Poor guy was going nuts en route to the place, though.  It was being held at The Crystal Tea Room in the  Wanamaker's building, so traffic was absolutely atrocious.  I didn't mind, though.  I wasn't the one driving!  Ha ha ha.  Besides, it gave me a chance to relax and just talk to him about his plans for his next degree (Fordham, anyone?).

Once we got there, we set to work making sure everything was as it should be.  I just put placecards out, he did the paper-signing and meet-n-greeting.  After he was content that things were swinging smoothly, we got changed in the bridal suite.  For such a nice place, it was an ICE BOX!  You would think that could afford a little warmth.  But oh well...

Pretty soon, the kids started coming in.  I opted out of the receiving line and mosied my way over to the other "dates."  I got to meet the hubbies of the female teachers in the line.  We talked about everything from my upcoming wedding to poker to politics to memories of the Wanamaker building and Northeast Philly.  Fun times!

After the line finally simmered, I located Frank and we found our way to our table.  There, I got to meet the female "dates" of the male teachers.  They were equally nice and we hit it off nicely.  They're some good people them Holy Ghost folks, they are.  Ha ha.

Throughout the night, Frank was running to and fro trying to raffle off prizes, keep an eye on run-aways, or make an appearance with some administrator or something.  It was really fun to see him go.  He did an awesome job with everything, and he deserved recognition for his hard work.

He was even nice enough to make sure we got pictures together since we missed the actual photographer.  LoL.  How sweet.  That did make me happy, though.  The last picture Frank and I have together is probably from Footloose, and we all know those pictures can't be any good.  Ha ha ha ha.

Wow... Frank, is that REALLY the last picture we took together?  The one from Footloose?  Oh how awful.  Or wait, the one from thte Student Union at La Salle?  Either way, that's sad, and we needed updated photos of us.  So this will tide us over until the wedding, and then, sir, we shall be getting pictures aplenty.

Annnywho, the prom ended pretty quickly, and the kids made their way to their limos.  Frank and I were able to leave fairly fast since no one seemed to be left behind.  So off we went, and made it home in 1/3 the time it took us to actually get there.

So, that's my Prom Story.  I had a great time with great people, and I got to see my Frank (when he wasn't running around being Superman).  :)  Love you, dear!  Thanks for letting me invite myself along.  {{{HUGS}}} and <<>>
