to edgar.
i really hate politics. it's annoying. i know what i am gonna do, but my decisions have more to do with who i think is kindof an asshole, versus whom i like. a lesser of the evils thing. obama is okay, and i am gonna roll with it, but the man does sometimes let me DOWN.
that's all that i am gonna say about all that mess. i just have to say it.
my parents had to have edgar put to sleep, the other day. edgar was my family's cat from the time that i was twelve or thirteen. actually, i know that i was twelve.
anyway, edgar had cancer in his jaw, and my parents had to put him to sleep... it's hard to imagine reassembling my family the way that we do, for a week at a time, without ed being there. he was a very sweet, very mild mannered cat. he never did much, but he was very nice while he was doing/ not doing it. my brother and dad, i think, are especially affected by this. my brother because he was caring for edgar when everything started to fall apart, and my dad... just because he is a guy, and they are weirdly sensitive. i am so sad for my parents, edgar was the only one of their kids left at home. my mom keeps thinking she is seeing him about, mostly because he was always there, but also because he was a plain black cat. all shadows can turn into black cats. my mom chose his name out of the obituaries in the newspaper, the day he came home.
oh, edgar.
another sad thing about edgars passing is the relative age of my former cat and one true love, maggot. maggot, or mags, currently resides with james. james, for anyone who is not aware, is my bff/ ex-fiance. i know that is weird, but we have made it work. :) anyway, james kept the cat (and just about everything else) in our james-friendly post-breakup personal item divisions. mags is now ten, quite nearly eleven. the age of the cat puts a lot of things in interesting perspective. i am officially quite an adult, whether i like it or not.
anyway. that's about the size of things. i think i am gonna go to bed.
today i bought a sci-fi book about siddhartha vs the hindu pantheon. it's called "lord of light". i think i love it.
