Save Mister Rogers!

Save Mister Rogers Neighborhood!

In June 2008, PBS ceased transmitting the Mister Rogers as part of their daily syndicated lineup beginning in September. Instead, PBS provides member stations with a single Neighborhood episode on weekends. Local public television stations, who make the final decisions about which programs to offer and when to air them, can still opt to broadcast Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood each weekday, but they are much less likely to do so without the program being included in PBS’s syndicated feed.

This is very disappointing since my entire family watches the show regularly. My son slows down and relaxes with Mister Rogers. He loves the "How People Make..." videos and pretends to have puppets like the Neighborhood of Make Believe. For a kid with his kind of special needs, my son finds safety, consistency and love with Mister Rogers. I can't believe I'm close to tears over this.

Please contact your local PBS station now, and let them know how important the continued Monday through Friday airing of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood is to children!
