Holy crap.
Wizards of the Coast
just announced it will be releasing a "premium deluxe edition" of the original Dungeons & Dragons. The MSRP will be $149.99. It's due to be released on November 19 of this year, so there's plenty of time to save up.
The set includes all three rulebooks and all four supplements:
- Volume 1: Men & Magic
- Volume 2: Monsters & Treasure
- Volume 3: Underworld & Wilderness Adventures
- Supplement I: Greyhawk
- Supplement II: Blackmoor
- Supplement III: Eldritch Wizardry
- Supplement IV: Gods, Demi-Gods & Heroes
OD&D was before my time-I started with the Moldvay B/X edition Basic Set, but I still feel a sense of "gosh wow awesome!" at this news. If this was the B/X edition, I'd even save up for it. With nine months to amortize the cost over, it works out to $16.67 per month. But I've no great interest in playing OD&D, and even as a collector I'm only interested in the editions I've played.
I've very happy for all the OD&D fans, though.
