I've been working full time and also my annual winter cough showed up early and brought the flu with it, so I haven't had much free time or energy to post lately. But I can report on the sleeping pad, having used it for four nights now.
It really goes to show how tough I've become, but a 3-inch inflatable sleeping pad isn't actually feeling all that more comforable compared to just sleeping on the ground. And I am constantly stressing over the fear of puncturing it. I'm starting to feel that I made an expensive mistake.
It remains to be seen how much extra insulation value the pad will add. Nighttime temperatures so far have not dipped below the mid-fifties. And that's a difficult thing to quantify anyway.
I have the sleeping bag as well, but have not used it yet, as the nights have not yet been cold enough.
