On My Workbench - Battletech Miniatures
Over the past few days I based and primed a batch of nine 'mechs: the Grasshopper and three Vindicators of my Liao adversary lance, the Cicada and Raven (also Liao 'mechs), the Jagermech that's going to be my testbed for a new Davion color scheme, and a Cyclops and Wolverine, because they were there.
I always pictured the Liao 'mechs in a jungle camouflage scheme, owing to the vivid imagery of Candace Liao's running battle with Justin Allard on Spica in 3017. I used one of the Vindicators to test my ideas for the color scheme. The base color is Tamiya XF-26 Deep Green. I then added random blotches of XF-8 Flat Blue to suggest a camouflage pattern. The canopy is painted with X-18 Semi Gloss Black.
The camera flash makes the blue look brighter than it actually is. =P
The Davion Jagermech has only received its base color so far, Tamiya XF-49 Khaki. I plan to add an olive drab camouflage pattern on top of it. Instead of blotches like the Liao 'mech it will take the form of long, narrow diagonal lines. The inspiration for the pattern comes from the rear cover of The Fox's Teeth.
