I've continued to be pretty lazy since I got back from Omaha. The last time I was in the lab was Thursday, and I was only there for about 90 min. Friday really kicked my ass. I went to some admin building to get my paperwork signed for doing lab stuff at 8:30. I was at work by 9:10. Since I was covering for Linda, there was no one else that could cover phones if I left, so I ordered a small cheeseburger pizza from Happy Joe's. It was quite a bit smaller than I was expecting, but damn, it was good. Lakeshia called me shortly after I ordered food, so she came and hung out with me at work until she had to go to work. After I finally got to leave that afternoon, I went to Target and bought myself black pants and a black V-neck tee for my uniform at Hollywood Video. I was very happy to take advantage of the tax holiday. I had a quick dinner and went to work at Hollywood at 6 and stayed till 12:30. So yeah, I worked from 9am till 12:30am, minus the hour between jobs and the 30 min for my break when I went to Culver's.
Mom and Kaleb took a tour bus to walk around Reiman Gardens on Saturday, so I met them out there and walked around for almost 2 hours. I got a bit sunburnt on my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chest. My cheeks probably wouldn't have been as burnt, but my sunglasses broke as we were walking around. The main attraction was supposed to be the butterfly garden. That was so much better than I was expecting. I thought they would all stay above our heads or hidden in the foilage, but they were flitting in between people and weren't really disturbed by everyone walking around. I couldn't believe how big some of them were, much bigger than the monarchs that I'm used to seeing.
Mom and Kaleb had to get back on the bus to go to Boone for lunch and go on a train ride. I went home and had lunch then snoozed til I had to get ready for work at Hollywood at 5. The closing manager that night, Matt, is originally from Omaha. He worked at the Hollywood on 156th and Dodge and graduated from Prep. Things were so slow by the end of the night that we ended up listening to my Tenacious D cd instead of watching a G or PG rated movie. We paused it the 3 times we had customers come in. We had everything done by time we locked up, so Jennifer and I sat for 30 min while Matt counted down our drawers.
Ben came to visit me on Sunday. He had to go to a wedding on Saturday in Omaha, so he took a little detour to Ames. Its still odd how we can do normally mundane things (like grocery shopping) together and they're just a bit more interesting. Or each lying in bed and reading our own separate books. We weren't touching at all, just him there next to me was comforting. He says that he sleeps better when he's around me. I usually had a harder time getting to sleep and staying that way when we're together. This visit was different. I think I actually got to sleep a bit easier. I still woke up a few times, but that wasn't until after the sun was already up and I fell right back to sleep.
He went back to Rolla yesterday when I left for work. I didn't do a damn thing after I got home and made dinner. I tried to watch a movie, but fell asleep on the couch. Then I couldn't fall asleep when I went to bed. I would start getting sleepy as I was reading my book, so I would put it down. Then I would lay awake for 45 min, decide to read some more, feel sleepy, etc. I didn't get to sleep till almost 5. I missed Ben, more than usual.
