I survived my first week and a day of the new semester.  I only have an 8am for 2 days instead of 3 like last semester, that sucked big time!  Otherwise I start at 10am, so a tad more realistic for the nightowl that I am.

So since I was gone for the last part of winter break, I didn't get a schedule change turned in until hours were already made for this week, so lucky me, I didn't have to work last weekend!  When I finally realized that and also saw there was a 3 day weekend, I made plans to go see Ben!  Plus I had money left over from student loans, so I could actually afford the gas, beverages, etc.  So that was fun.  He had to work on Saturday and Sunday, but I really didn't expect him to get off those days on such short notice.  It really sucks to drive all the way down there since I inevitably hit rush hour traffic in KC on the way down and always leave later than anticipated, so I don't get home till midnight.  But its nice not to have to deal with his family and I can have him all to myself.

Ben's back was still pretty sore from rolling the truck, so he was happy to have me there to try to massage his back.  I couldn't believe how bad it was!  Driving around in his brother's convertible isn't helping any, either.

I decided to be a nice person last Monday and ordered the 2nd season of Futurama for Ben since both of us had been looking for it since last Christmas.  And I had money.  Target had this thing for free shipping for orders over $30, plus they had a better price than Best Buy.  It was supposed to be to him between wednesday and friday.  Target didn't bother to tell me who the courier was, so I had to scour through my order history to find a tracking # then started going to random websites and plugging it into tracking systems until I found DHL.  The page said there was no tracking info available and to call customer care.  The girl I talked to there said that a label was printed, but they never got the package from the shipper and to call the shipper for more info.  Once I finally find a # for Target (keep in mind this was about 1:30 am) I get some guy in England.  He tells me he's tracking the package, which means he ended up on the same website I initially went to and started reading me the same information I was looking at 5 min earlier.  I explained what the chick from DHL said about them never getting anything from Target and he said "Well, there's a tracking # on it and it shows a weight and everything."  Nevermind the fact that all of that info was necessary to be able to print a label and the warehouse most likely has a postage meter for that purpose. Even if they don't have a meter, scale, whatever, how much difference can there be in the weight of a boxed set of DVDs they've most likely sold 1000's of by now?  I tried telling this guy several times "I actually called DHL because I found the same page you're looking at and they say they never got it, just that a label was printed and they have never had possession of it.  Its not coming."  Even though this thing is already 3-5 (now 4-6) days late, he tells me to call back on the 20th if it hasn't shown up yet and they'll send another one.  So I/we am/are supposed to wait for an additional week for something that is lost.  I asked if there was any sort of shipping records Target keeps separate from the courier's records.  He just told me "I tracked it myself and it says it shipped out on the 9th.  I have the same information as DHL."  No you don't you moron.  Finally I give up and tell him I'll be calling back on the 20th to get my replacement ASAP.  I don't order stuff online as much as I used to (mostly for lack of funds) but I've never had a problem with shipping. It almost always arrives on the first day of an estimated delivery time.  But this is the first I've ordered with Target and I'm highly disappointed.  Makes me look like an ass too when I called Ben to tell him he couldn't buy anything fun for himself for a week.  I did finally tell him on Monday what I ordered, but still.

I should try to sleep now.

bitching, really tired entries, ben
