FFXII Fic: A History of Sin (Vossler/Ashe, Basch, Rassler)

Jun 22, 2007 01:53

For the almost unbearably wonderful and intelligent cygna_hime, both because she’s been an amazing help with this rapidly spiraling saga and because she is officially a graduate now and as such, deserves the best presents we can all shower her with. You asked for Vossler, Basch and liberal use of the irony cudgel and by god, I hope this qualifies. And this ( Read more... )

Wow. This is beautiful. I can't even think of anything else to say, it's just... lovely. And, ouch. It actually hurts, it's so beautiful and tragic and words cannot describe how amazing this is.

Thank you for those kind words! ♥ I ended up liking this piece a great deal more than I thought I would (since Ashe rocks but I find writing her without going over-the-top a little maddening) and I'm glad you enjoyed it as well. ♥

And yes, pretty much everything about canon!Vossler is the definition of tragic. He tries so hard to do the right thing, as always, but it simply ends up pushing the one person he loves most in all the world away...

Rhythm and repitition are my secret fic-muses. If something doesn't sound "right" to me, I have to keep rewriting it till it does. It's probably a very strange problem for a non-musician to have, I think. ;)

In any case, I'm glad you enjoyed this! And poor Vossler... the man simply can't catch a break whenever I write him! ♥

Aieeeeeeeeeee! *wails and flings self upon you* Vossler! He's so noble and tragic and tragic because he's noble and what he knows to be right always overrules what he wants and and bweeeeeee! *gives him the biggest hug since ever*

I wonder if Ashe asked Basch that question, after.

::flings self upon you in turn!:: I'm so glad you enjoyed this, since it was, after all, my thank you present to you... as well as a bribe for future beta-ing. ;) And yes, poor Vossler... all of his best qualities are precisely the ones that doom him in the future. He literally does live and die by his honor after all...

In fact, Ashe does ask that question to Basch after their escape from Leviathan and after he helps her kill Vossler. He's all that she has left, after all.

Oh, ow. Very nicely done. You've done a lovely job of capturing Vossler's voice here -- his reserve, and the deep deep emotions that run beneath it.

Yay, I managed to get you to enjoy one of my stories! ;) And yes, Vossler might seem as emotional as a stone slab to most of the people around him-- maybe especially to the people closest to him. But we know better, don't we...?
