I know I’ve been away for quite a spell, carousing and grousing about town with my special guest and neglecting my very gracious f-list… but I do hope you’ll all forgive me for that soon enough. I’ve spent much of my time either accompanying that special guest to tedious dinner parties or tearing my hair out while trying to do special projects. In

And Penelo would protest that, in fact, she doesn't much like being mixed up in the shenanigans of the underaged, oversexed and highly politically skilled. Too bad for her that we don't give her much of a choice, eh? ;)

I'm very curious to see where this is going.
Poor Basch, indeed. ;)
(Surprised to see you post something this week! I hope all else in life is going well and that not all of the social events are tedious all the time. Have a good weekend and catch up with you when the week starts.)

And this - not every pirating lass could count the Fran (as well as the man-whore she ran around with) as a mentor when starting out as a fresh-faced teenager. - made me very happy. :)
Any specific feedback you're after? This Pene strikes me as being quite a lot older than any other version you've written - almost like a mature, debauched, proud-of-it mid-30s. Very pirate-ish tho.

Seriously, I like Balthier as well but... in a fight, who'd you be more afraid of? The metrosexual in tight leather pants and a puffy shirt? Or the 8 foot tall amazon warrior woman with teeth that can open a beer can from a few yards away? ;)
And ooh, feedback! Feedback is always so, so much fun. XD This Penelo was an interesting gamble for both Moontear and I to write so... I guess most of my questions are about her.
a) Does she seem like a logical extension of Penelo from the game, after a few years of hard living? Or at least, the Penelo from (say) Knots?
b) Can you see how she's changed just from the way she's interacted with Basch?
c) Can you ever forgive her for not convincing her 'Uncle' to pull off ( ... )

I'd've posted sooner, but alt-tabbing at work is not a good way to read R-fic. XP

And if we continue to write this (I'm crossing my fingers here!), this will likely go into quite a lot of Larsa's background, as well as a bit more of what formed Penelo from being the somewhat-innocent girl she used to be the tough cookie she is now. I like to think of her as being something of a progression from the usual 16-year-old-Penelo I write (such as the one in Knots, Ties and Tides.) She's got a lot of emotional armor that comes from losing a lot of people she loves-- but she's still got her natural empathy and kindness as well.

Can't wait to see where you go with this, dear. (It's especially fun seeing the blend of your voices into a cohesive whole. :P)
Hope you've been having a good week with your special guest (;)), and if you'll be on AIM on Sunday, I'll be there and back from break!

And if we continue to write this (I'm crossing my fingers here!), we'll have fun with the next chapter. It's Larsa and meetings between smashingly drunk emperors and bitterness and Archadian politics and god knows what else. We'll have a ball. XD
Unfortunately, I'm currently being buried under a PILE OF WORK in the form of stats hwk and TWO PRESENTATIONS in a row. But with any luck, I'll be on AIM possibly next weekend. I hope I can catch up with you and everyone else soon as well! ♥

So, how was your week with your guest? :P

...Oh god, grad school is doing some very strange things to my hind brain...
And my week would have been fantastic had my family not gotten a bur up their collective butts and had dinner parties for us nearly every single day he was here. Which meant if we went out, we'd have to return by 5 PM and get stuffed by various relatives. I've gained 5 pounds and I spent far less time alone with him than I wanted to. :(
Blech, I'm so looking forward to going to Chicago to visit him there. There are FAR fewer annoyances there!
