I’ve been eyeing all sorts of fanfic memes as of late, though I’ve been shamefully bereft of participating in any. Still, better late than never and this one is ganked from the marvelous Threewalls, as are 99.9% of my ideas nowadays. ;)
(
Thar be lots of words written about fic heading yer way. )
And yes, I'd love to catch you on AIM someday! Thanks for the SN! I'm marringthemoment there, btw. ;)
Lymsleia Falenas
A. I actually very much enjoy Lymseleia-- she manages to be both the damsel-that's-not-so-in-distress, the plucky-young-girl-that-plausibly-fights-back and the young-political-genius, all of which are archetypes that ping me but good. (The first two describe Penelo pretty well and the last one is so Larsa down to a tee. So of course I dig this chick. ;) In any case, I've always enjoyed characters who are doing the best they possibly can in horrible situations beyond their control and I very much enjoy the way Lymselia fights for her kingdom and her selfhood while being grinded under Gizel Godwin's thumb. So much kudos to her for that!
B. Sometimes she takes the pluck a bit too far, to unrealistic levels. But other than that minor complaint, I don't really have anything else to say...
C. Hmm... never really thought about this. Maybe Lym/Miakis? Their interactions are very fun and I've always liked couples who have a good sense of give and take...
D. Lym had dreams about Gizel Godwin for years after his death: dreams that could be both nightmarish and wondeful, that left her sobbing in her bed with her hands clawing at her dress. He never so much as kissed her when he was still alive but he left his mark on her for all that.
E. Weeeeeell, I was working on this one FFXII/Suikoden cross-over for a bit that would have had Larsa and Lymselia joining forces to get what they really wanted from the people around them, ifyaknowwhatimeanandithinkyoudo. ;) But I kinda let that fall by the wayside after a bit.
F. And here's a very rough bit from it!
---
Hell, maybe they could marry Larsa and Lymsleia off so that they could grow up to breed a race of political super-babies. And in fact, though the so-called point of the conference was to "build political accord between these two great nations," Penelo had a sneaking suspicion that if it all worked out, that just might end up being the case. Well, at least if she had read all the signals (which went up to and included the shiny new hose stuffed in a grimacing Larsa's trunks) clearly.
Politics, Penelo was finding to her chagrin, was much more about mudding the waters for the common folk-- like herself-- than about communicating clearly. It all frustrated Penelo so much it got to be a bit ridiculous.
In fact, all things told, possibly the only nice thing about this quote-unquote "meeting of the minds" between Falena and Archadia was that the prince of that other country was much cuter than she had expected him to be.
