It was either post this up or go write some emo poetry over being incredibly depressed. I think everyone here can agree that this was by far the better option.

Is this supposed to be a Pinky and the Brain reference? 'cause when I read this line I almost expected a "Narf!" out of Vaan. LOL

Six years of serving as the bodyguard to the most neurotic and underaged ruler in all ov Ivalice will change a man, oh yes. And I'm going to have so much fun introducing a bit more of Basch in the next chapter!

And yes, yes it is! Hee, I'm glad someone caught it. I have a habit of sprinkling the weirdest references into my fic at times just to see if anyone will spot them at all. XD

This is such a cute story! I don't know if I commented on the first part of this or not, but in case I didn't, it's fun reading the story from Vaan's point of view. If there is any OOCness, well then I like it because of course they're not going to act the same way or have the same outlook on the world as they would when they were younger. Look forward to the next part. XD

I'm really glad that seeing the world from Vaan's... shall we say 'unique' POV is fun? ;) And... well, maybe OOC is the wrong way to have described Vaan and Penelo and Larsa in this fic but yeah, spot on. They're 6 years older and have all been through some rough (and crazy and sexy and wild) times since the game ended. They're just not the sort of people they once were, which will really show up with a vengeance soon. XD

Look, Vaan found a proper shirt AND Penelo has, yet again, another change of clothes (slightly). Note the little wing ornaments in Penelo's hair somewhat reminiscent of a certain emperor's crown. Is it a sign of possible things to come? Probably not....but I'm going there. lol. XD

AND HOLY SHIT, VAAN GETS HOT WHEN HE HAS PROPER SLEEVES ON?! WTF?! No, seriously, I think you just rocked my world completely and totally with that picture. Because I always knew Penelo would be adorable no matter what... but Vaan? Hot?! OMG, my world is totally off balance now!

This is a really cute story. I really like these interpretations of older Vaan, Penelo, and Larsa--you right them so much lighter and funnier than they are in my head that its a nice break! And I loved Basch being an accomplice. XD

I'm glad you liked these interpretations of the older characters! I've written-- and had criminal amounts of fun writing-- older!Penelo and older!Larsa plenty of times, but Older!Vaan is turning out to be a pleasent surprise. Who knew he had a thing for the viera, after all? ;)

And Basch will certainly sneak a few cameo appreances in during the next and last chapter of this mini-series. He's proving a ridiculous ball to write as well...

No time for my usual round of gushing, I'm afraid (maybe for part 3). But I have to pop in and say that I've been having a case of the blues myself lately--actually it seems like quite a few people have been--and this fic, and part 1, have been the highlight of my week. Getting a peek into your Vaan's headspace has been incredibly interesting, and the banter, especially in this chapter, is priceless. I don't see what's so OOC about it, either; they're cursing more, and having sex more (the mentions of Vaan with viera made me giggle), but of course they are, they're adults now. Other than that, they seem very much the Vaan and Penelo we all know and love.

Good luck with part 3, hope you feel better...and thanks for cheering me up. ^_^

Oh man do I feel you on the not-having-enough-time thing! At this rate, the UoE series probably won't even be finished until the end of fricking September! ::sob::

But in any case, I'm glad this series might have helped you shake off the lbues a bit, considering that was just why I was writing it for myself. ;) Vaan's headspace is turning out to be a far more interesting and exciting place than I thought it could be and I'm glad the kids in this seem to have turned out alright. Six years of ferocious fight (both politically AND piratically) will change a person... but I'm hopeful I still nailed their essential personalities down. ;)
