Our latest trip to England left us both with awful colds. We stay awake coughing late into the night. Tarzan's aunts and uncles keep the temperatures of their homes somewhere in the high 50s. While we keep our house at 62 F, we are obviously mere amateurs in the "can you freeze your guests to death" competition, if such exists. As I sat shivering -- actually convulsing with cold -- at one aunt's house, I received a stern lecture on the bad energy habits of Americans and how we are taking the planet down. I suppose it is true, although Tarzan and I are approaching seriously righteous greenness in our own home. I guess we got what we deserved as we are indeed citizens/green card holders of the old US. My daughter handled the frigid temperatures with no problem and no comment.

The British can consume remarkable quantities of alcoholic beverages without dying. It is impressive. I have never seen so much wine disappear so quickly, even down the gullets of some pretty frail looking elderly women. Oh, and they really do eat beans on toast for dinner. Whoa.
More later.
