My fellow Americans, I am embarrassed by our culture of immaturity. We have a major vice-presidential candidate whom we have put a stone's throw from the White House because of her image rather than her well-developed sense of the issues of our time and the policies we need to implement to deal with those issues. We like the idea of a moose-hunting Annie Oakley with a fine figure and a passel of kids. We like the fact that she tells us not to worry about the future of the planet because we feel better when Mommy says everything is going to be all right. We like the idea of an easy answer to our problem of dependence on foreign oil -- just drill the fuck out of Alaska and we can have our own oil! The idea of research and development of non-fossil fuels is just so much work. I guess we are lazy as well as immature. We like the idea of low taxes because we can have greenbacks TODAY. We like hiding under the covers with our teddy bears and ignoring the sucking black hole that is our nation's debt, and, most of all we like fingering those pennies in our little pockets in the dark. If we are healthy and employed today, we prefer to ignore the crisis of health care in this country. We don't feel sick or poor just now, so, access to health care is OKAY JUST THE WAY IT IS!!
There is no doubt that John McCain is a hero. He was tortured and imprisoned for the country he loves -- our country. But, he'd like to put Annie Oakley on the back of his horse and together they would like to shoot the FUCK out of anybody or any country they feel threatened by. Sometimes, PTSD makes people aggressive like that. John earned the right to his PTSD, but, do we want that in a President? John and Annie want to keep us at war. They never mention just how expensive the fighting is. But, that's okay, cause we love 'em. So, get out your gun, put on your ten-gallon hat and lets elect them!!
