Massive Storm

Jul 21, 2006 01:51

So we had this fucking massive storm Wednesday night which knocked out our power for 24 bloody hellish hours... This would have to happen right in the middle of this unbelieveable heat wave - seriously it was like 100 degrees today and we didn't have power till 7 o'clock tonight. You guys know how sensitive I am to heat, I was having a horrible time. I couldn't breathe, I didn't even want to move. We spent most of the day driving around in my mom's car looking for some place to cool off, but almost everything is without power here! While I was at home, lying around struggling to breathe, I let the dogs out and one of them got away from me, my little Shepherd, Cookie. I was standing out in the yard, bawling my head off calling her and she would not come. I had a major meltdown right there in the front yard, luckily the neighbors weren't around, I was a fucking sight. My son, God bless him, got her back. The kids and my mom and I went down to my brother's apartment (he had power) for a little while to cool off, but he was being so obviously annoyed at our presence that we didn't stay long. Luckily on our way home my husband called me on my cell and told me the power was back. God damn I was so happy! It's still pretty hot in here, like 78, because the a/c just can't cope with the heat. It was in the 90's in the house, so 78 feels pretty damn good right now. It's still nearly 90 outside and it's almost 2 am! Check the headlines (Jason told me we made the top news story at msn.com this morning. Go us! LOL)

(some of these were taken very close to my brother's apartment - which didn't lose power at all. Weird, huh? Note: I don't know any of the people in these pictures.)

Anyway, I'm fucking glad we have our electricity again! I'm coming down with some sort of sinus and chest infection garbage, and being roastingly hot on top of that was enough to send me over the edge. AUGHHHH!!!
