Handpainted Bathroom Cabinet Door

I am sort of a jack of all trades when is comes to art and creative things. I suppose I should settle down and concentrate to specialize on one thing, but when I get that creative juice bug, I just have to go with it! This is an old photo of a door to a bathroom cabinet in my old house. My ex and I were fixing up the house to update it a little bit. The house is one of those boring cookie cutter houses from the late 1950's - 1958, to be exact. Anyway, we bought it (after having first rented it) from the daughter of the elderly lady that had lived there who had Alzheimer's disease and had to be moved to a home.

It was like stepping back into time - she had left everything in immaculate condition. It was the first time that we had owned a house, so it was my opportunity to let my creativity run wild!

Anyway, I like that Shabby Chic worn look, so this is what I came up with for the doors. I was going to buy some of those pretty reproduction round crystal hardware for the handles. When we decided that we were going to sell the house after deciding to divorce, we thought that it would be more appealing if we added a new cabinet. Sadly, when we hired a carpenter to replace the wooden cabinet with something new, he had to break it up because it was attached to the wall so thoroughly that there was no possible way to extract it in a fairly complete condition. So now, I have a bunch of orphaned doors and drawers!
