2010 in review!
1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
--Had surgery; took the actual driving part of the driver's test.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
--Didn't have any last year; not sure yet if I'll make any this year. If so, it'll be stuff like 'taking the driver's test again and passing this time' and 'wearing my compression stockings every day'
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
--Yes!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
--Thankfully no.
5. What countries did you visit?
--Didn't leave the continental US, as usual.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
--Dunno… no health issues? Security bars on our windows? Vengeance?
7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
--8-16, the day I went under the knife. Thanksgiving.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
--Getting our taxes taken care of.
9. What was your biggest failure?
--Not taking the freaking laptop with us on the day it got stolen - we were thinking about it and decided not to.
10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
--Well, there was that surgery thing. :D Also went through lots of treatment for lymphedema.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
--The laptop. It felt so good to have enough money to just go out and buy something nice cause we wanted to.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
--Dave for putting up with me and taking care of me post-surgery; all our friends who helped us out this year. My mom, for repeated unquestioning gifts of a monetary nature.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
--THIEVES.
14. Where did most of your money go?
--Medical bills!
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
--Pudsgiving 2010 (which was awesome), Archon, learning to bake cheesecakes ^_^
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
--"Tightrope" by Janelle Monae.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Oh, happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Well, I got thinner REAL QUICK around August, but I think I'm fattening out again. :S Gotta work on that.
iii. richer or poorer? Y'know, honest to God I think we're about right back where we were.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
--Saving; though I knew the fat tax return we got early this year wouldn't be enough to FIX EVERYTHING FOR EVAR, I think we could've stretched it a bit more if I'd concentrated. But by the time we should've started saving, I'd found out about the cancer thing and nothing else held my attention. Also, learning stuff.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
--Moping around being bored instead of picking up cool hobbies and learning how to do things.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
--Well, Christmas is already past - but we spent it with Dave's family, and it was a great time, as always.
21. Did you send out Christmas cards this year?
--Nope! Lazy + short on money.
22. Did you fall in love in 2010?
--Nope, just stayed in love.
23. How many one-night stands?
--None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
--Dexter!
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
--Yeah, I just wish I knew who they were so I could prosecute 'em. Feckin', feckin', feckin' teenage delinquents mutter grumble…
26. What was the best book you read?
--That's actually gonna take some thought. Probably _Saturn's Children_ by Charles Stross. lol, pink goo replicators
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
--Here Come The Mummies! *dances*
28. What did you want and get?
--A nice laptop (for a while). Custom-fitted German-made compression stockings instead of the monstrous foam-and-masking-tape bandages that I had to wear for half the year.
29. What did you want and not get?
--VENGEANCE! My excised organs in a big jar of formaldehyde (I was too loopy to ask until it was too late).
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
--I didn't get to see a lot of the movies that came out this year. Of the ones I saw, though, my favorite was probably How To Train Your Dragon. Or Kick-Ass.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
--I turned 34 this year; went to a great brewery/restaurant with a bunch of friends.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
--VENGEANCE! Or just getting my stuff back. Not in that order, actually.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
--Comfy as always, though I do actually own a dress now! That I'm willing to wear! In public! Also, 'pants wide enough to hide the leg bandages', until I didn't need them anymore; and 'giant clown shoes' for the same reason.
34. What kept you sane?
--Dave. Friends. Celexa. Plenty of good stuff to read. Constantly available music over headphones at work. The Internets, gods bless 'em.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
--bleagh
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
--Probably DADT, cause it's so STUPID.
37. Who did you miss?
--There were a few friends that we just didn't get the chance to see much of.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
--Megan's fiancee Luther! I knew of his existence last year, I think, but didn't actually meet him till Archon.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
--Having friends is better than having stuff. (For one thing, they're less portable and have a much lower market value, and thus are much less likely to be stolen by neighborhood children.)
