questionable?

Yeah.

Yesterday was interesting. The kids woke themselves up really early, due to sickyness related misery - at 5 am I was up taking care of Tink, and my back hurt so incredibly badly, I had to give in and take one of my prescription muscle relaxers - now on the bottle, it says "take before bedtime"... I found out why. For the first 4 hours after taking it, it is incredibly hard to get your body to obey the signals your brain sends. So my poor husband ended up being late to work, and I guess he thought I was sick, because I don't think he understood a thing I tried to say when I was telling him that I took a muscle relaxer.

So he came home and was all mad at me to find out that I wasn't really sick.

Oh well. At least now I know why the bottle says that.

And my back still hurts, so I really didn't gain anything at all out of that.

Anyhow, so I was finally up and about yesterday, with one kid being a booger factory who couldn't breathe if she was laying down, and the other one running a fever and just being ornery all day.

But hey, it was Thursday, which is bellydance day! Except that it started snowing a while before I had to leave - though by the time I left, the snow was almost all gone. I was all optimistic about getting there early to introdude myself and everything... And then I hit the Point of the Mountain.
*DOOM*
That's the pass between Utah and Salt Lake Valleys. Crammed full of cars, all going very slowly, due to wind and big rigs and all that (but hey, better to go slow than to slide off the mountain and die a firey death!) - anyhow, by the time I got up to SLC, the snow in the air had been whipped around and was covering all the street signs. Luckily I only had to turn around once, and I was only a few minutes late. Also lucky was the fact that I'd joined the tribe.net group for the dance classes, so the teacher had seen pics of me, so she knew exactly who I was when I walked in! Yeys.

Now this was the good part of my day - Corrie teaches a beginner class, and asked me to attend it for a while, until I learn what they call all of their moves and how they do their cues. No biggie, I know after being out of dancing since Tink was born, I'd need the practice. But let me tell you - she and her helper Kitty do it right - much more education and professional than the other troupe I was dancing with - the other troupe just started doing routines and was like "pick it up and you'll learn as you go" - no wonder half the students would drop out in frustration. But Corrie's way is to spend each class on one particular move until you have both the move and the presentation (arms and posture) correct! yay! I also learned that the other troupe does the basic Egyptian differently, and so I'm betting I'm going to have to re-learn almost everything they taught me.

But she also said I have beautiful carriage! Yay for great dance posture! I just have to watch my doofy elbows. They never want to go where I tell them to stay. I think all those years of marching band have got my arms thinking that 90 degrees is right, and gently curved is wrong. >.<

Anyhow, I think I'm really going to enjoy dancing with Kashmir - they do a lot of ATS (FCBD format), and then a lot of tribal fusion. And they love pirates. So it feels a lot more like *me.*

Oh yeah, and on the way home, my car turned itself off on the freeway. No engine light or warning or anything, it just shut down. SO I coasted off the nearest exit (I was right by the 5th south exit for AF, so I'd luckily made it safely back over the Point of the Mountain), and I got out, kicked the car in frustration, panicked because I couldn't find the hazard light button, waved the people behind me to go around, then I just kept trying the car, and it finally started again. Stupid thing. But it got me home just fine. Matt and I have noticed lately that the car doesn't want to start - probably something to do with the cold. So tomorrow Matt's going to take a look at it, and I guess I'll just stay inside today.

So, things I've learned:

1)muscle relaxers during waketime hours = v. bad
2)work on elbows, and taking the extra count out of the basic egyptian
3)my car hates snow

health and body, bellydance, car problems, muscle relaxers
