Just a few minutes ago my husband left with my sad baby boy - Peter Pan has had a fever since Friday - as high as 104.5, but averaging around 103 whenever we check it. Motrin was helping, by bringing his fever down to 100, but today he was listeless and unresponsive and he wouldn't eat or drink. All he wanted to do was sit in my lap and cry. Yesterday all he wanted to eat was Goldfish crackers, which he vomited up in a gross and mucusy mass. The day before he vomited up his afternoon milk and bread. So since the fever wasn't going down any, and my little guy was getting worse, we decided to send him and Daddy to the emergency room insta care.
Right now they've got a 45 minute wait until it's their turn.
In the meantime, I'm at home with Tinkerbell. Just minutes after her father and brother left, as I was sitting here at the computer, about to check my email and post about Pan, she began vomiting. All over herself, the floor, the carpet, my pants.
She had such a panicked look in her eyes - I rushed her in to the bathroom to calm her with a bath. As I got myself into clean pants and began to dry her off, she started vomiting (that time I caught it all in her bath towel.) Back into the (now empty) tub she went, to lounge on a pillow while I cleaned up after the first mess. When I went in to finish her second bath, and as I was wrapping her in a towel, she began the now familiar gagging noise - I helped her lay on the counter and held her head as she vomited into the bathroom sink.
I figured by then she'd barfed everything in her tummy... By the time I got her dressed and into the kitchen (heading towards the couch to snuggle) she started gagging again. Rushrush to the kitchen sink, as she threw up a stomach full of mucus and bile.
Now she is safely ensconsed in her bouncy chair, swaddled in a clean towel, tucked under her chin to catch any last mucus - she is falling asleep.
I really hope she isn't getting what her brother has been sick with - he started with the vomiting, and the high fever came a few hours later. We are almost out of baby fever reducers.
His birthday party is this Saturday. If he doesn't get better, we'll have to cancel, or maybe postpone it. He was getting all excited when he found out he was getting an Elmo cake.
